In Memory of Roy “Sparky” David Lewis

Roy “Sparky” David Lewis, 88, of Bell City, MO, passed away February 29, 2020 at his home.  He was born October 5, 1931 in Bell City, the son of Jeff and Gertie DeLay Lewis.

Sparky had worked as a parts manager at DeLay Brothers Implement in Bell City.  He had also worker as a union laborer through the Local #1104.  In his later years he often baled hay with Leamond Tropf.  He was an avid gardener, growing huge vegetables.  He loved working in his yard, especially mowing with his zero turn mower.  He always enjoyed going to the coffee shop to talk with his friends.

He was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving in the Korean War.  In September of 2018 he went on the Veterans Honor Tour of Washington, DC.

Sparky and Dorothy Gromer were united in marriage on December 17, 1953 at Swinton, Mo and she survives of the home.

Other survivors include: his wife, Dorthy Lewis; two sons, David (Betty) Lewis of Bell City and Scotty (Ruth Ann) Lewis of Greenbrier; two daughters, Marsha (Mike) Brown of Nashville, TN and Daronda (Donald) Stovall of Bell City; four grandsons, Josh (Lindsey) Stovall of Bell City, Ryan (Christina) Lewis of Bell City, Jared (Victoria) Brown of Oklahoma City, OK and Josiah (Ashtyn) Stovall of Swinton; three granddaughters, Kara (Michael) Britton of Nashville, TN, Becky (Charlie) Probst of Greenbrier and Crystal Gunn of Meridian, MS; 14 great-grandchildren, Isabella, Emery, Waylon, Carson, Conner, Jackson, Derek, Zack, Braylon, DeLaney, Camden, Andrew, Carolina and Parker; a great-granddaughter to arrive in June; a brother, Odis (Ann) Lewis of Poplar Bluff; a sister, Janette (Hollis) Patterson of Jackson, MO and also many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his big brother, Herbert Lewis in November of 1977.

Visitation will be held on Monday March 2, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance. 

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday March 3, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel with Rev. Sue Welborn officiating. 

Burial will follow at Morgan Memorial Park in Advance with full Military Rites.
