In Memory of Maurice J. Spore

Maurice J. Spore, son of the late Bill and Golden Hart Spore, was born on July 13, 1926, near Fisk, Missouri and departed this life on March 2, 2020 at Cypress Point Skilled Nursing in Dexter, Missouri at the age of 93 years.

Mr. Spore is a veteran of the United States Army, serving in World War II as a construction engineer in the Philippines and Japan.  In civilian life, he managed Sears stores in Dexter, Missouri and Memphis, Tennessee.

Maurice was a member of New Bethel Church near Dexter for more than 60 years, having served as a deacon and Sunday school superintendent. 

After returning home from World War II, he was married to Miss Ruth Jackson in Pontiac, Michigan on November 6, 1948.  To this union was born a son, Everette.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Ruth of 71 years; his son, Everette and daughter-in-law Janet of Henderson, Nevada; his granddaughter, Natalie Spore of Henderson, Nevada; his grandson, Jason Spore of McDonough, Georgia; his sister, Frieda Young of Dexter, Missouri; two step-sisters, Alice Pruder of St. Louis, Missouri and Audrey Ramsey of Florissant, Missouri; and his step-brother, Jack Ross of Marshfield, Missouri

Friends may call at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Saturday, March 7, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. 

Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Chapel on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Gerald Hart officiating. 

Graveside services will be conducted on Monday, March 9, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.

Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter is in charge of all arrangements
