In Memory of Calvin Ray Sandlin

Calvin Ray Sandlin, son of the late Fieldin Floyd Sandlin and Dorothy Rice Sandlin was born on April 17, 1965 in Malden, Missouri and departed this life on February 21, 2020 at the Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton, Illinois at the age of 54.

Mr. Sandlin was a truck driver and a resident of Dexter.  He was a member of the Broseley Church of Christ and was baptized there when he was younger.  He enjoyed to fish and hunt, and work his hunting dogs.

On April 13, 1991 he was united in marriage to Christine Casey in Dexter, Missouri.  Mrs. Sandlin survives of their residence in Dexter.

Besides his wife he is survived by three sons, Dylan Sandlin of Dexter, Quentin Sandlin of Dexter and Aaron Sandlin of Dexter; by one daughter, Linda Kirkpatrick of Bernie;  by two grandchildren, Larissa Throckmorton and Colton “Lane” Grigery;  by four brothers, Raymond Sandlin of Poplar Bluff, Melvin Sandlin of Bernie, Larry Sandlin of Bloomfield, Winford Whitaker of Dudley; by six sisters, Ollie Gaultney of North Carolina, Melba Bryant, Mary Dugger, and Darlene Parks of Dudley, Faye Gee of Dexter and Rebecca Rhodes of Poplar Bluff; by a special sister in law who helped raise him, Verna Sandlin of Qulin, and by several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Fieldin Floyd “Sonny” Sandlin, Loyd Sandlin, Charles Floyd Sandlin, Fred Dillinger, Cecil Whitaker and Lorenzo Sandlin and by two sisters, Bonnie Birchfield and Lela Ester Sandlin.

Visitation will be conducted at the Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Friday, February 28, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. 

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 1:30 p.m. in the Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Tim Russell officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Brown Chapel Cemetery.   

Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter is in charge of all arrangements.
