
Bloomfield, Missouri - Two long-time custodians were honored with Hometown Hero Awards at Bloomfield Public Schools on Tuesday, October 25th.
Darrell Sindle and Bruce Blocker tricked into coming to the high school gymnasium to an enthusiastic crowd of students from kindergarten - 12th grade. Members of the band and flag corps were on hand to welcome them at the entrance.
They received the awards from Modern Woodmen.
Bruce Blocker graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1980. He was hired as a custodian for the district and began work on August 1, 1990. This is his 28th year working for the district. Both of his parents, flora and Eugene Blocker also worked as custodians at the school.
Darrell Sindle graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1986. He began working as a custodian for the district on September 24, 1997. This is his 20th year working for the district. Both of his parents, Nadene and Charles Sindle worked for Bloomfield Schools.
"Both of these gentlemen have spent almost their entire lives in the halls of Bloomfield schools," said Lara Thorn, a Modern Woodman representative. "Their dedication to our school and students is a testament to the type of men they are - the type of people we want around our students as examples. I can't say enough good things about Bruce and Darrell and can't express how much these two deserve the title of 'Hometown Hero.'"
Each Hero will receive a check to be donated to a charity of their choosing.

Bloomfield, Missouri - Paul Martin was presented with a House Resolution for recognition he received as an employee of the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery.
State Representative Tila Hubrecht presented the resolution. Martin was named Employee of the Month in June by the Missouri Veteran's Commission, Employee of the Month for the Veteran's Cemetery Service Office in May and Employee of the Month by the Department of Public Safety in August.
Martin assisted a man in the cemetery after the man collapsed while visiting the grave of his wife on the anniversary of her death. Paul is a hero and saved the man's life assisting him.

Bloomfield, Missouri - Farmers Insurance presented a check in the amount of $10,000 to the Stoddard County Children's Home in Bloomfield.

Clay Hurst, Farmers Insurance District Manager stated that all of the Farmers Insurance agents in the various communities of Stoddard County, are very thankful and appreciative to be able to represent Farmers Insurance; a company committed to investing into the communities we serve.
"We have each personally donated to the Children's Home in the past, and will continue to do so."
After informal conversations with the board members present, Hurst indicated the agents are even more impressed with the services that this great organization provides to the children and families of Stoddard county and thanked the Children's Home board members and administrators for their hard work and dedication in serving the county in this capacity.

Bernie, Missouri - Cymber Arnold has been chosen as the 2016 ShowMe Times July Calendar Girl!
Cymber is the 15-year old daughter of Derik and Casey Arnold and Tommy and and Lacey Winchester.
She received 1st Alternate in the 2016 Miss Bernie Pageant and is currently the reigning Miss Stoddard County!
Cymber is active in volleyball, softball, cheerleading, BETA, FBLA, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes at Bernie High School. She will be a sophomore in August.
Her future plans are to attend Harding University after high school and obtain a degree in the medical field.

Bloomfield, Missouri - Lt. Governor Peter Kinder will be on hand to mark the Open House and dedicate the remodeling of the Bloomfield Public Library. The event will be held on Saturday, June 25th from 2:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Local businessman Norman Harty made possible the renovations with his generous monetary donation and will be on hand to mark the dedication.
A tour of the library will be provided by library personnel and refreshments will also be served.
