Jerry Barnes, son of the late Henry Barnes and Sylvia Dewitt Barnes was born on July 23, 1944 at Corning, Arkansas and departed this life in the Saint Francis Medical Center at Cape Girardeau on January 23, 2014 at the age of 69.
Mr. Burns attended the Master’s Touch Church, was a Truck Driver for Watkins Truck Lines in Memphis, Tennessee and was a resident of Dexter.
He was united in marriage to Mary Etta James on December 8, 1979 at Bernie. She preceded him in death on July 31, 1999. He was then married to Patsy Kay Mungle Baxter on June 14, 2003 at Dexter. She survives of the home.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons and their spouses, Randy and Diane Barnes of Dexter and Steve and Julie Barnes of Cape Girardeau: by one step-son, Bobby Brotherton of Collinsville, Illinois: by one step-daughter, Paula Roberts of Dexter: by two brothers and their spouses, Danny and Debbie Barnes of Campbell and Larry and Darlene Barnes of Puxico: by three sisters and their spouses, Loretta and Don Walters of Dexter, Barbara and Kenneth Trout of Bernie, Gloria and Charlie Dean of Bernie: by a sister in law, Anglee Barnes of Bernie: by five grandchildren, by one great-granddaughter and six step grandchildren, also by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Besides his wife and parents, two brothers, Billy Doris Barnes and George “Lefty” Barnes, preceded him in death.
Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 25, 2014.
Funeral services will then be conducted at 11:00 A.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Everett Owens officiating.
Interment will follow in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery.
Norma Jean Kitchen, daughter of the late Theodore Karlish and Linda Riddle Karlish, was born on February 5, 1938 in Malden, Missouri and passed away on January 20, 2014 at Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter at the age of 75 years.
Mrs. Kitchen was a resident of Dexter and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dexter, a Sunday school teacher and a Bible Study teacher. She had worked in sales at Spartech Plastics in Cape Girardeau and at Gideon-Anderson in Gideon and had been employed as a receptionist at the City of Dexter. She was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed reading and puzzles.
On April 30, 1960, she was united in marriage to Ronnie Kitchen in Gideon, Missouri. Mr. Kitchen preceded her in death on October 21, 1976.
She is survived by two daughters, Cynthia Kitchen Tarkington and husband Billy of Antioch, Tennessee and Penny Kitchen Okan of Dexter; by three brothers, Terry Karlish of Malden, Gary Karlish of Malden and Richard (Bojac) Karlish of Tulsa, Oklahoma; by three sisters, Sue Little of Clarkton, Joyce Nimmo of Malden and Debbie Karlish of Malden; and by one granddaughter, Macyn Okan of Dexter.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert (Bobby) Karlish and Roger Karlish.

A memorial service will be conducted on Friday, January 24, 2014 in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Barry Winders officiating.

Billy W. Summers, son of the late J. B. Summers and Ora Lee Elder Summers, was born on July 29, 1942, in Blytheville, Arkansas and passed away on January 23, 2014 at Golden Living Center in Dexter at the age of 71.
Mr. Summers was a member of the Gospel Assembly Church in Dexter. He had worked as a car salesman, was a member of the Dexter Elks Lodge and a resident of Dexter.
On October 27, 1961, he was united in marriage to Virginia Dees in Dexter, Missouri. Mrs. Summers survives of the home.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Greg Summers of Dexter; by one daughter, Gina Elder of Dexter; by one brother, Max Summers of Dexter; by one sister, Connie Avery of Sommerset, Kentucky; and by three grandchildren, Nena Summers, Logan Elder and Chase Elder.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Coye Summers and James Buford Summers; and by two sisters, Joyce Summers and Betty Phillips.

Doyle “Patches" Cash, son of Don Cash of Oklahoma and Vivian Martinez of California, was born on December 21, 1959 in Madera, California and passed away on January 18, 2014 at his residence in Advance at the age of 54 years.
Mr. Cash had worked as an Emergency Response Technician and was a resident of Advance. He had volunteered his services for many endeavors, never seeking public recognition.
In addition to his parents, his wife, Cindy Cash of Advance, survives him; one son, Matthew Cash of Dexter; by three daughters, Angie Cuevas of Dexter, Crystal Husk of Illinois and Jessica Hayes of Advance; by two brothers, Timothy Cash of California and Kevin Cash of Advance; and by ten grandchildren.

Wilma Pauline Brown Miller, daughter of the late Ellis Brown and Estelle Kinnick Brown was born on January 29, 1919 in Pikes Peak, Indiana and departed this life at her residence peacefully surrounded by her family on January 21, 2014 at the age of 94 years.
Mrs. Miller graduated high school from St. Mary’s, Missouri in 1936 and went on the graduate from Rubicam Business College in 1938. In 1939 she went to work for Midwest Dairy in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and two years later took a job with Emerson Electric War Plant were she met her husband Warren Miller. Wilma was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Dexter and a resident of Dexter.
On June 30, 1945 she was united in marriage to Warren Gregory Miller Sr. in Pittsburg, Kansas. Mr. Miller preceded her in death on October 24, 1981.
After Warren’s death, Wilma began making quilts. She made many quilts for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She made quilts for her church family and for many different fund raisers. Making quilts brought Wilma great joy. Another of her great joys was making strawberry preserves and giving the preserves to family, friends and many others who appeared at her door.
Survivors include three daughters, Patricia Ann Schroeder and husband Roger of St. Charles, Missouri, Linda Sue Daniel and husband J.C. of Dexter, Robin Kinnick Sheehan and companion Keith Tippett of O’Fallon, Missouri; by three sisters, Olive Ruth DeRousse of Bellville, IL. , Helen Maxine Armbruster of Denver, Colorado, and Audrey Lila Hart of Sun City, Arizona; by eight grandchildren, Lisa Wolfram of O’Fallon, Jeff Schroeder of St. Peters, Missouri, Jim Schroeder of St. Charles, Missouri, J. Daniel of Doniphan, Missouri, Tim Daniel of Altoona, Pennsylvania, Reverend Susan Barton of Sedalia, Missouri, Kristen Sheehan and Meaghan Sheehan both of Villa Ridge, Missouri; also by thirteen great-grandchildren and a host of friends.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, W. Greg Miller Jr.; by four brothers, George Marshall Brown, Ellis Brown, Jr., Russell Bruce Brown, and Jack Gladwell Brown; and by one sister, Alberta Adelle Brown.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 until 1:00 P.M. Saturday January 25, 2014 at the First Christ Church in Dexter.
A memorial service will then be conducted at 1:00 P.M. at the First Christ Church in Dexter with Rev. Mike Williams officiating.
Interment will follow at a later date at the Park Lawn Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.
