Wilma Pauline Brown Miller, daughter of the late Ellis Brown and Estelle Kinnick Brown was born on January 29, 1919 in Pikes Peak, Indiana and departed this life at her residence peacefully surrounded by her family on January 21, 2014 at the age of 94 years.

Mrs. Miller graduated high school from St. Mary’s, Missouri in 1936 and went on the graduate from Rubicam Business College in 1938.  In 1939 she went to work for Midwest Dairy in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and two years later took a job with Emerson Electric War Plant were she met her husband Warren Miller.  Wilma was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Dexter and a resident of Dexter.

On June 30, 1945 she was united in marriage to Warren Gregory Miller Sr. in Pittsburg, Kansas.  Mr. Miller preceded her in death on October 24, 1981.

After Warren’s death, Wilma began making quilts. She made many quilts for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She made quilts for her church family and for many different fund raisers.  Making quilts brought Wilma great joy. Another of her great joys was making strawberry preserves and giving the preserves  to family, friends and many others who appeared at her door.

Survivors include three daughters, Patricia Ann Schroeder and husband Roger of St. Charles, Missouri, Linda Sue Daniel and husband J.C. of Dexter, Robin Kinnick Sheehan and companion Keith Tippett of O’Fallon, Missouri; by three sisters, Olive Ruth DeRousse of Bellville, IL. , Helen Maxine Armbruster of Denver, Colorado,  and Audrey Lila Hart of Sun City, Arizona; by eight grandchildren, Lisa Wolfram of O’Fallon, Jeff Schroeder of St. Peters, Missouri, Jim Schroeder of St. Charles, Missouri, J. Daniel of Doniphan, Missouri, Tim Daniel of Altoona, Pennsylvania, Reverend Susan Barton of Sedalia, Missouri, Kristen Sheehan and Meaghan Sheehan both of Villa Ridge, Missouri; also by thirteen great-grandchildren and a host of friends.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, W. Greg Miller Jr.; by four brothers, George Marshall Brown, Ellis Brown, Jr., Russell Bruce Brown, and Jack Gladwell Brown; and by one sister, Alberta Adelle Brown.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 until 1:00 P.M. Saturday January 25, 2014 at the First Christ Church in Dexter.

A memorial service will then be conducted at 1:00 P.M. at the First Christ Church in Dexter with Rev. Mike Williams officiating.

Interment will follow at a later date at the Park Lawn Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.

At the family’s request, memorials can be made to the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, 224 East Stoddard Street, Dexter, Missouri 63841.
