
Charles Gisi, son of the late Edmond Gisi and Mary Iva Morrison Gisi was born on March 20, 1918 in Essex and passed away on January 21, 2014 at the Cypress Point Skilled Nursing Center in Dexter at the age of 96.
Mr. Gisi was a retired farmer, a Veteran of the United States Army Air Corps serving in World War II and a resident of Essex. He faithfully attended Risen Church in Dexter.
He was united in marriage to Esther Snider on December 4, 1946 in Piggott, Arkansas. Mrs. Gisi preceded him in death on March 19, 2011.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Cathy and husband James Alan Ross of Chesterfield, Missouri and Mary Jo and husband Steve Mills of Chester, Virginia; by five grandchildren, Natalie and husband Scott Hughes, Nathan Ross, Neal Ross, David Mills and Daniel Mills; by one great grandson, Logan Hughes; by one brother, Wilbert Gisi of Essex and by one sister, Jo Hice of Dexter.
Besides his wife and parents he was preceded in death by four brothers, Glennon, Eugene, Raymond and Harold Gisi; by two sisters, Stella Gisi and Ethel French and an infant grandson, Andrew Mills.
Friends may call at the Risen Church in Dexter, on Friday, January 24, 2014 from 10:00 A.M. until NOON.
Funeral services will then be conducted at NOON in the Risen Church Sanctuary with Rev. Joshua Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.

Judy Roberts, daughter of the late Joe Roberts and Bertha E. Darby Roberts was born on October 8, 1941 in Catron, Missouri and departed this life on January 21, 2014 at the SoutheastHealth Center in Dexter, Missouri at the age of 72 years.
Ms. Roberts was a licensed manicurist, former employee of Good Humor-Breyers in Sikeston, Missouri, and a resident of Dexter.
Survivors include two sisters, Robin Hargrove of Morehouse, Missouri and Jo Ann Fralick of Bernie, Missouri; by two grandsons, and many other relatives and friends.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Anthony Joe Roberts; two brothers, John W. Roberts and Charles Lee Roberts; by two sisters, Janie Y. Farber and Linda C. Inman.

She had lived in Dexter until 1966, when she moved to Ellington, Missouri. She moved to Poplar Bluff in 1986. She was a member of the First Church of God in Poplar Bluff.
On June 3, 1945 she was married to John W. Sides in Piggott, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on October 18, 1998.
Surviving are one son, John Dale Sides of Conway, Arkansas; two daughters, Rose Chitwood of Harviell, Missouri, Barbara Cowin of East Prairie, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; twenty great great grandchildren; two great great great grandchildren; one brother, Jerry Pixley of Sikeston; six sisters, Mary Pixley Clark of Dexter, Mildred Parks, Lillian Dewitt, JoAnn Melton, Glida Eisenouser and Pat Sanders all of Sikeston; and her beloved cat, Baby. Other relatives and friends also survive.
She was preceded in death by one son, Dennis Thomason, one daughter, Thelma Gibson, one granddaughter, Tammy Jo Gibson and one brother, Louis Pixley.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 22, 2014, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 23, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. Richard Triplett of Poplar Bluff, Missouri officiating.
Interment with be in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.

She had lived in Sikeston most of her life and had moved to Dexter 13 years ago. She had worked at the Ramada Inn in Sikeston for 23 years. She attended the Lighthouse Christian Center in Dexter and was a member of the Eagles in Sikeston. She enjoyed baking and cooking.
She was married to James Oscar Payne and he preceded her in death. She later married Connie Ray Belt and he preceded her in death on January 13, 2002.
Surviving are two sons, Kenny Payne of Gosnell, Arkansas, Jimmy Payne of Farmington, Missouri; 9 grandchildren, Jessie Dale, Donnie Lee, T.J., Stevie Ray, Michael, Brooke, Kurtis, Austin and Gage Payne; 9 great grandchildren including her special great granddaughter who lived with her, Madison Payne; three brothers and wives, Kenny Scott of Belleville, Michigan, Billy & Denise Scott of Goodyear, Arizona, Steve & Kathy Scott of Cary, North Carolina; one sister and husband, Marie & Menard Allen of Waterloo, Illinois.
Other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one son, Larry Allen Payne and one daughter, Rhonda Payne; one grandson, Jacob Bodden; five brothers, Don, Junior, Frank and two in infancy; five sisters, Grace, Freda, Polly, Mary and Bert.
Friends may visit Thursday, January 23, 2014, after 5:00 p.m. at the Lighthouse Christian Center in Dexter, Missouri.

Loyce L. Reed, daughter of the late L. R. “Pat” Patterson and Talitha Ann Aslin Patterson, was born on February 28, 1920 in Dexter and passed away on January 16, 2014 at the Golden Living Center in Dexter at the age of 93 years.
Mrs. Reed was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dexter, a life long resident of Dexter and had worked as the Director of the Dexter Public Library for 44 years. She was a member of the Altrusa Club and the American Legion Auxiliary for fifty-four years.
On June 29, 1937, she was united in marriage to James Paul Reed in Piggott, Arkansas. Mr. Reed preceded her in death on February 17, 1993.
She is survived by two daughters, Paula Kay Smith and husband Jim of Crossville, Tennessee and Jennifer Lyn Miller of Sikeston; by one sister, Virginia Parker Cato of Cape Girardeau; by four grandchildren, Shannon L. Smith Putnam (Denny), Marrianne Smith Bruce (Keith), Jimmy Paul Smith (Tanya) and Michael Reed Miller (Jennifer); by two step-granddaughters, Sheri Smith Marien (Chris) and Lori Smith Powell (Darrin); and by twelve great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, James Lee Patterson and Loy Riley Patterson, Jr.; and by five sisters, Pauline Hardy, Opal Campbell, Ruth Swindle, Barbara June Mouser and Patsy Patterson.
