In Memory of Henry Larry Tilmon

Henry Larry Tilmon, son of the late John Henry Tilmon and Snowdy Gay Reynolds Tilmon, was born in Hayti, Missouri on July 17, 1937 and departed this life at his residence in Bernie, Missouri on November 12, 2023 at the age of 86.


Mr. Tilmon was a farmer, loved checking on the crops, even after he had retired. He was a charter member of Bernie FFA, had owned several business in Bernie, including a Standard Service Station and a Shoe Repair Shop. He also was a truck driver, and enjoyed antique tractor pulls, but especially loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Tilmon had been deacon at The Assembly of God in Bernie for many years and now attended Bernie General Baptist Church.


He was united in marriage to Joy Mason in Bernie, Missouri on August 31, 1957. Mrs. Tilmon survives in their home in Bernie.


Other survivors include five sons, Larry Tilmon & wife Donna of Bernie, Mo., Roger Tilmon & wife Tammie of Lebanon, Mo., James Tilmon & wife Marla of Bernie, Mo., Terry Tilmon & wife Linda of Bernie, Mo., and Marshall Wayne Tilmon & wife Andie of Malden, Mo.; by one daughter, Elizabeth “Lizzie” Palmer & husband Doug of Jackson, Mo.; by twenty grandchildren and twenty three great-grandchildren; also by other relatives and many friends.


He was preceded in death by five brothers, John Tilmon, Jim Tilmon, Vernon Morgan, Ervin “Buck” Morgan, Lester Morgan; by two sisters, Lillie Tilmon Ward and Daisy Tilmon Ward.


Friends may call at Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie, Missouri on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Chapel in Bernie on Thursday, November 16, 2023 starting at 1:00 PM with Rev. Larry Tilmon, Rev. Jim Davis and Rev. Steve Fitzpatrick officiating. Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.

Mathis Funeral Home of Bernie is assisting with all arrangements.
