
Gladys Sting, daughter of the late Frank Casey and Mildred Proffer Casey, was born on January 4, 1920, in Aid, Missouri, and departed this life on May 1, 2022, at Winchester Nursing Center in Bernie, Missouri at the age of 102 years.
Mrs. Sting was a former employee of the International Hat Factory and the International Shoe Factory in Dexter, Missouri and she was a resident of Dexter. She loved gardening, flowers, and cats.
On August 28, 1937, in Piggott, Arkansas, she was united in marriage to Joseph T. Sting. Mr. Sting preceded her in death on September 18, 1998.
She is survived by two sons, Joseph Sting Jr. and wife Olga of Orlando, Florida, and Ronald Sting and wife Kitty of Germantown, Tennessee; by two daughters, Carolyn Lohse and husband Charlie of Columbia, Missouri and Tonda “Tiny” Rowland and husband Allen of Dexter, Missouri; by five grandchildren, Lora Ann Rowland, Chris Rowland, Corey Lohse, Casey Lohse, and Phillip Sting; by two great-grandchildren, Kara Tucker and Marie Lohse; and by two great-great grandchildren, Kylee Tucker and Bently Hall.
Other than by her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Linus Casey; by two sisters, Alberta Henderson and LaVern Triplett; and by her granddaughter, Michelle Sting.
Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Thursday, May 5, 2022, from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, May 5, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. James Malloy officiating.
Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
