Local Police Departments to Participate in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

Tomorrow, Saturday, April 24, 2021 is National Prescription Drug Take Back Day from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications.

Properly disposing of prescription drugs helps keep them out of our waters and landfills. To find a take back location near you, CLICK HERE.

Local Police Departments participating are Dexter Police Department,  Bernie Police Department, Malden Police Department and Puxico Police Department.

No Tax Increase Levy for Castor Township - Vote April 6, 2021

Castor Township is asking you to vote YES on April 6, 2021 to keep this tax levy in place.  This will NOT be an increase.

Resident's tax rate will remain the same as it is currently with a yes vote.

There must be a public vote every four (4) years to keep the tax levy.

The ballot shall read as follows: SHALL THE CASTOR TOWNSHIP GENERAL ROAD DISTRICT LEVY A SPECIAL ROAD & BRIDGE TAX LEVY OF THIRTY FIVE CENTS (.35) ON THE ONE HUNDRED DOLLAR ASSESSED VALUATION IN SAID ROAD DISTRICT FOR THE NEXT FOUR YEARS, WITH THE FIRST YEAR BEING THE PRESENT TAX YEAR. /s/ Kim Williams/Castor Township Clerk.

City of Dexter April 2021 Spring Cleanup

Dexter, MO - The city of Dexter will once again participate in Spring Cleanup during the month of April.

Bulk trash pickup is being offered each Friday.  "Red Tags" may be purchased at City Hall or Harp's Grocery Store for furniture or other bulky items for $1.00 each.

Major appliances such as refrigerators, stoves, washers, dryers, and hot water heaters require a "Blue Tag" and can also be purchased at City Hall or Harp's Grocery Store for $10.00 each.  There is a limit of four (4) items to be picked up.

"Red Tags" may also be purchased for yard waste.

You MUST call the Water Department at 624-5527 by Thursday of each week to schedule either the bulk trash or yard waste pickup.  Please only one call per household.

Historic WWII Aircraft Flying to Dexter

Dexter, MO - Ten Stearman Biplanes will be on display at the Dexter Airport on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at 8 a.m.  They will be parked on the ramp in front of the Airways cafe.

The community is encouraged to come out and view these planes.  People will not be permitted to climb on the aircraft.

These planes are historically significant as they were used to train U.S. Navy and Army Air Corps pilots in WW2 to prepare them to fly the fighters and bombers of the day.

New Surcharge on City of Dexter Sanitation Bills

Dexter, MO - The City of Dexter Board of Alderman at a regular meeting on May 18, 2020 passed Resolution No. 2020.01 Resolution Authorizing the City of Dexter to Add a Surcharge on Monthly Sanitation Bills Due to Covid-19.

Whereas, due to COVID-19 and the citizens of the City of Dexter being unable to recycle, the sanitation department is receiving an influx of trash; and

Whereas, the City has incurred additional cost due to said influx.

Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved by the Board of Aldermen of the City of Dexter, Missouri, that a monthly surcharge of One Dollar ($1.00) be added to residential customers, a Two Dollar ($2.00) surcharge be added to commercial customers, and a Five Dollar ($5.00) surcharge be added to customers with dumpsters, effective June 1, 2020.  That the surcharges shall continue until the City determines it is no longer needed and rescinds the surcharge.

Adopted by the Board of Aldermen this 18th day of May, 2020.
