NOTICE

City of Bloomfield Elections

Municipal Election

Filing Deadline for Candidates

Notice is hereby given to the residents of Bloomfield, Missouri that the City of Bloomfield calls a general municipal election to be held on April 07, 2020 between the hours of 6:00am and 7:00pm.

Eligible candidates may file with the City Clerk for the following offices:

One (1) Alderman North Ward for a term of two years.

One (1) Alderman South Ward for a term of two years.

Filing for city offices begin on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at 8:00am at the office of the City Clerk, located at 400 N. Prairie. Filing deadline will be Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at 5:00pm. City Hall is open weekdays from 8:00am to 5:00pm.

Job responsibilities include: material handler, assembly, screen printer, and packing line.

These are full time positions with benefits that include retirement and health insurance after a 90-day probation period.

Nominations are Being Accepted for the January 2020 Election of the Stoddard County UMC-Extension Council Members,

Nominations are being accepted for the January 2020 election of the Stoddard County University of Missouri Extension Council members, according to Council Chairman Gary Wyman.

Council members are elected or appointed to two-year terms and may not serve more than two consecutive terms. Nominees must be at least 18 and must reside in Stoddard County. Nominations must be made prior to December 13, 2019.

"We want nominees who are interested in education and the progress of our community," Chairman Gary Wyman said. “The resources of the University of Missouri System and Lincoln University are available to us. We need active council members to help plan educational programs and to work with University of Missouri Extension specialists."

Nominations may be made through the council chairman or the county extension center. Nominees will be contacted to secure their permission to place their names on the January 2020 ballot.

University of Missouri Extension offers educational programs in categories such as agriculture, home economics, business and industry, community development, youth development (4-H) and various continuing education courses, seminars and workshops.

Dexter School Board Elections (Public Notice of Filing)

The Dexter R-XI School District encourages qualified persons interested in running for a position on the School Board to file to be a candidate in the April 7, 2020, election.  Interested persons may file at the superintendent's offices located at 1031 Brown Pilot Lane, Dexter, Missouri 63841.  For more information, contact C.A. Counts at 573-614-1000, extension 1603.

Filing will begin on December 17, 2019 at 8 a.m. and will continue during the district's regular business hours, which are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Except for the first and last day of filing, filing will not occur on days that the school district's central offices are closed due  to inclement weather.  Fling will also not occur on the holidays and breaks when the school district's central offices are closed: December 20, 2019  through January 1, 2020.  Filing will end on January 21, 2020 at 5:00 p.m.

There are 3 (three) positions available with three-year terms.

Dexter PD Keeping Our Community Safe

On Saturday, November 16th, 2019, Officer Durall, conducted a traffic stop and was assisted by Cpl. Forshee. 

During the investigation, the driver of the vehicle, Chad Goza, had active Scott County Warrants for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Marijuana less than (10) grams and Driving While Revoked/Suspended.  The vehicle had been reported stolen by the Scott County Sheriff’s Office.

Dexter PD K-9 Officer Forkum and his K-9, Knox, responded and assisted in the investigation.  During the search of the vehicle, K-9 Knox, alerted to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle.  During the search of the vehicle, approximately 13 grams of methamphetamine and other drug paraphernalia were discovered.

Arrested were:

Chad M. Goza

Age 43 of Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Charged with Tampering 1st Degree, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Bond $25,000.00 Cash Only

Deana M. Latham

Age 29 of Sikeston, Mo.

Charged with Tampering 1st Degree, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Bond $50,000.00 Cash Only

Both are currently being held in the Stoddard County Jail.

K-9 Knox has also assisted in 3 other investigations, resulting in 6 drug arrests.

K-9 Knox is a great asset for our department and surrounding agencies.
