Jackie Lavelle Hayes son of the late James Hiram Hayes and Flora Jane Estes Hayes, was born in Las Angeles, California on May 25, 1941 and departed this life at Winchester Nursing Center in Bernie, Missouri on October 29, 2020 at the age of 79.

Mr. Hayes was a handyman, having worked in construction, plumbing and roofing. He was of Pentecostal Faith and was a resident of Bernie.

He was united in marriage to Christine Ivanelle Stafford in Bernie, Missouri on February 1, 1964. Mrs. Hayes survives in their home in Bernie.

Other survivors include one son, Samuel Hayes of Dexter, Missouri; by one daughter, Michelle Carter & husband Terry of Dexter, Missouri; by one half brother, James Drews of Sikeston, Missouri; by three grandchildren, Kristen Carter, Tyler Carter and Jessica McCain; by five great-grandchildren, Kaden, Millie, Nicholas, Caseon and Maseon; also by other relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be conducted on Monday, November 2, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. in Bernie Cemetery.

Interment will follow. Mathis Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements
