Jane Carolyn Cathey, daughter of the late Floyd James Hoffman and Mattie Irene Grim Hoffman, was born on February 14, 1947 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri and lost her battle with cancer at her residence in Dexter on June 9, 2014 at the age of 67.

Mrs. Cathey was a member of the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, in Dexter and had worked as an elementary school teacher.

On September 13, 1974, she was united in marriage to Claud B. Cathey in Arkansas.  Mr. Cathey preceded her in death on May 5, 1997.

She is survived by three daughters, Pamela L. (Dwayne) Pease of Dexter, Paula (Danny) Hindman-Jones of Dexter and Patricia A. (Jason) Jines of Dexter; by one sister, Judith A. Cochran of Doniphan; and by nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Susan Irene Watkins.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 P.M. 

Funeral services will be conducted in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel at 2:00 P.M. with Rev.  Mike Williams officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
