
Oscar Lee Dement, son of the late Monroe Dement and Marie Bradshaw Dement, was born on September 29, 1925 and passed away on June 6, 2014 at SoutheastHEALTH in Cape Girardeau at the age of 88.
Mr. Dement had worked as a telegrapher for Frisco Railroad, was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II and was a resident of Dexter.
On December 13, 1952, he was united in marriage to Georgia Lavoria Deroush. Mrs. Dement survives at the home.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five sons, David (Jane) Dement of Bartlett, Tennessee, Mike (Chris) Dement of Overland Park, Kansas, Tom Dement of Dexter, Bob Dement (Leona) of Dexter and James (Daya) Dement of Bloomfield; and by ten grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill Dement and Dugan Dement; and by one sister, Evelyn Harvey.
Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Sunday, June 8, 2014 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel on Monday, June 9, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Tim Russell officiating. Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery.
