- THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PADUCAH HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR SNOW... WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO 6 PM CST MONDAY. THE WINTER STORM WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.
- * ACCUMULATIONS: HEAVY SNOWFALL IS LIKELY ACROSS THE WARNING AREA WITH 4-8 INCHES POSSIBLE GENERALLY NORTH OF A LINE FROM PERRYVILLE MISSOURI TO MARION ILLINOIS TO CALHOUN KENTUCKY AND 8-12 INCHES SOUTH OF THAT LINE. IN OUR REGION... HEAVY SNOWFALL IS DEFINED AS 4 INCHES OR MORE IN 12 HOURS... OR 6 INCHES IN 24 HOURS.
- * TIMING: SNOW WILL OVERSPREAD PARTS OF SOUTHERN ILLINOIS AND SOUTHWEST INDIANA STARTING LATE THIS AFTERNOON... THEN ACROSS THE REMAINDER OF THE AREA THROUGH THE REST OF THE EVENING. THE STEADIEST AND HEAVIEST SNOW WILL OCCUR BETWEEN MIDNIGHT TONIGHT AND MIDDAY MONDAY. LIGHT SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS ARE STILL POSSIBLE MONDAY AFTERNOON... BUT WILL BEGIN TO TAPER OFF FROM WEST TO EAST.
- * MAIN IMPACT: TRAVEL WILL BECOME VERY HAZARDOUS. VERY COLD TEMPERATURES IN THE UPPER TEENS TO LOWER 20S WILL CONTRIBUTE TO HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS. DO NOT ATTEMPT TRAVEL ACROSS THE REGION TONIGHT AND MONDAY UNLESS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY. THE MONDAY MORNING COMMUTE WILL BE HEAVILY IMPACTED BY THIS SNOWSTORM.
