In Memory of Lonnie D. Moss

Lonnie D. Moss, 75, of Wappapello, MO, passed peacefully while sleeping on June 19, 2022. 

Lonnie was born to Fred and Jewell Moss in Wappapello, MO, on December 8, 1946. After graduating from Puxico High School in 1965, Lonnie soon enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served, both stateside and abroad, for four years. 

While in high school Lonnie met the love of his life and late wife, Shirley (Hicks) Moss. They were united in marriage on January 2, 1966. Lonnie and Shirley enjoyed many years with their nieces and nephews before welcoming their beloved son, Lesslie, after many years of marriage.

Following his military service, Lonnie and Shirley called Puxico, MO, home for several years and he was an entrepreneur building tanks and wood heating stoves at H & H Manufacturing.  Lonnie and Shirley then moved to the Cape Girardeau, MO, where he worked for Jim Wilson, Co. for several years before retiring. After retirement, Lonnie's entrepreneurial spirit was revived with his pneumatics businesses, Heartland Pneumatics and LDM Equipment, which he owned and operated for several years. 

Lonnie enjoyed spending time hunting, fishing, and visiting with friends at the Wappapello VFW post 3416. Lonnie especially enjoyed his Friday nights at the "V" playing Queen of Hearts. Lonnie's most loved pastime was visiting with his family, especially with his son and Lesslie's sweetheart Melissa. Lonnie was an uncle to many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, all of whom he loved dearly and became known as "Uncle Money" when a great-niece mispronounced Lonnie saying money instead. 

Lonnie is survived by his son Lesslie Moss (Melissa Taylor) of Charleston, MO; his sister, Janet (James) Smith of Rochester, WA; his sister-in-law Carolyn (Terry) Taylor of Dexter, MO; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; and two brothers, Carroll Moss and Connie Moss. 

Visitation services will be held at Watkins Funeral Home in Puxico, MO, on June 29th from 10:00 am-11:00 am with a memorial service beginning at 11:00 am.

In Memory of Marilyn Irene York

Marilyn Irene York, daughter of the late John Crews and Lou Edna Haislip Crews, was born in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on May 8, 1953 and departed at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff on June 21, 2022 at the age of 69.

Mrs. York was a homemaker, was of Non-Denominational Faith and a resident of Bernie.

She was united in marriage to Roy Melvin York in Bernie, Missouri on July 22, 1974. Mr. York survives his wife in their home in Bernie.

Other survivors include one daughter, Amy Wilson & husband Daniel of Bernie, Missouri; by one granddaughter, Stephanie Wilson; by several nieces and nephews; by many extended adopted family, which wasn’t related, but considered family; also by other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death other than by her parents, by two brothers, Allen Crews and Jerry Crews; by three sisters, Wanda McKlintic, Shelby Vert and Helen Crafford.

A Celebration of Life is being planned by the family at a later date.

Mathis Funeral Home of Bernie is assisting with arrangements.

In Memory of Christina Louise (Tina) Jarrell

Christina Louise (Tina) Jarrell of Dexter Missouri, daughter of Marilyn (Pullum) Southerland and the late Larry Southerland was born on January 29, 1970 in St. Louis County, Missouri passed away on June 19, 2022 in Dexter, Missouri at the age of 52.  

She lived in the Dexter area most of her life.  Tina enjoyed hunting, crocheting, computers, collecting horse figurines, watching her favorite t.v. show "Super Natural", as well as spending time with family. She was of the Christian faith.

Tina was employed by Jean and Company accounting firm of Dexter, Missouri.

Tina  married Gordon Jarrell on April 23, 2002 in Essex, Missouri.    

Tina is survived by her husband Gordon Jarrell; her mother Marilyn Southerland of Moscow Mills, Missouri; one daughter Makala Tate of Dexter, Missouri; one son Dakota (Lillie) Southerland of Fort Bragg, North Carolina;  one stepdaughter Kellie Patterson of Dexter, Missouri; one stepson Casey Jarrell of Dexter, Missouri; two grandchildren Ares Jarrell of Dexter, Missouri and Carter Southerland of Fort Bragg, North Carolina; one brother Duke Southerland of Moscow Mills, Missouri; one uncle Herman Pullum of Dexter, Missouri; a life long friend Julie Jackson; Several nieces and nephews as well as a host of family and friends also survive. 

Visitation will be held on Friday June 24, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday June 24, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri with Minister Julie Jackson of Dexter officiating. 

Burial to follow in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri and Watkins and Sons Funeral Home of Dexter is in charge of all arrangements.

In Memory of Louis Allen Schwent

Louis Allen Schwent, son of Beverly McCurter Schwent Iisac and the late Louis Joseph Schwent, was born in Granite City, Illinois on September 25, 1969 and departed this life at his residence in Bernie on June 17, 2022 at the age of 52.

Mr. Schwent had served his country in the National Guards and had been deployed to Iraq for 18 months. He had been Plant Manager at IXL in Bernie for 20 years. He was a resident of Bernie and was of Christian Faith.

Survivors include his fiancé, Janet Rose of Bernie, Missouri; by two sons, Louis “Bubby” Schwent & wife Tayler, Skyler Schwent all of Bernie, Missouri; by two daughters, Lara Roberts & fiancé Daryl Vise of Dexter, Missouri and Summer Crowder & husband Charles of Bernie, Missouri; by two step-daughters, Sarah Pohlman & husband David of Sedgewickville, Missouri and Rachel Cauble of Oran, Missouri; by one brother David Benson of St. Louis, Missouri; by two sisters, Dawn Benson of St. Louis, Missouri and Sherry Toia in New Zealand; by sixteen grandchildren; by one great-grandchild; also by nieces and nephews and many friends.

He was preceded in death other than by his father, by one sister, Susan K. West.

Friends may call at Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie, Missouri on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M.

Funeral services will then be conducted June 22, 2022, in the Mathis Funeral Chapel at 1:00 P.M. Interment will follow in Bernie Cemetery with Full Military Honors.

In Memory of James Lawrence “Larry” Kehoe III, D.O.

James Lawrence “Larry” Kehoe III, D.O., son of the late James Lawrence “Buddy” Kehoe Jr. and Virgina Hackett Kehoe, was born on July 4, 1939, in Sedalia, Missouri, and departed this life on June 16, 2022, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, at the age of 82.

Dr. Kehoe was an engineer with McDonnell Douglas and General Electric before attending medical school at the Kansas City College of Osteopathic Medicine (KCU). He opened private practices in Farmington, Perryville, and Sainte Genevieve, Missouri, before moving to Dexter in 2001 and working as an emergency room physician. Dr. Kehoe retired from Dexter Memorial Hospital in 2013 after nearly 40 years practicing medicine.

Dr. Kehoe was united in marriage to Diana Naeger Kehoe on November 7, 1987, in Sainte Genevieve, Missouri. Mrs. Kehoe survives in their home of Dexter, Missouri.

Other survivors include two sons, Andy Kehoe of O’Fallon, MO, and Dr. James Lawrence “Jim” Kehoe IV & wife Becky of Clinton Township, MI; two daughters, Jeanetta Daum & husband Keith of Cape Girardeau, MO, and Leslie Seiter of Dexter, MO; three sisters, Libbie Blaeuer & Dennis Pierman of Lake Ozark, MO, Suzi Aleshire & husband Glen of Moberly, MO, and Jane Phillips & husband Larry of Bloomington, IL; 10 grandchildren, Jamie & wife Julie, Sean, Amy, Andrew, and Adam Kehoe, Madison, Bryar, and Walker Daum, and Alex and Katy Seiter; and many close relatives and friends he dearly loved.

Dr. Kehoe enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, hunting and fishing, working on his cars and motorcycles, gardening and cooking.

Visitation will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dexter on Sunday, June 26, 2022, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to a charity of their choice in Dr. Kehoe’s name.
