In Memory of Thomas Bradley Vaughn

Thomas Bradley Vaughn, son of Faye Turner Vaughn and the late Bobby Vaughn, was born on September 16, 1955 in Hayti, Missouri, and departed this life on September 28, 2020 at his residence in Dexter, Missouri, at the age of 65 years.  

Mr. Vaughn was a former employee of Florida Marine, working as a machinist. 

On December 5, 1992, in Aquilla, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Tammy Gaines.  Mrs. Gaines survives of their home in Dexter.

In addition to his wife Tammy, he is survived by his mother, Faye Vaughn of Caruthersville, Missouri; by his daughter, Angela Gardner of Dexter, Missouri; by two brothers, Jimmy Vaughn and Jerry Vaughn, both of Dyersburg, Tennessee; by his sister, Vickie Hundhausen of Caruthersville, Missouri; and by his father-in-law, Richard Gaines of Dexter, Missouri.

Other than by his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Vaughn.

Friends may call at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Friday, October 2, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. 

Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Chapel on Friday, October 2, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. 

Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery.

In Memory of Betty Marlene Barker

Betty Marlene Barker, daughter of the late Clyde Guinn and Opal Forsythe Guinn, was born on January 28, 1935 in Fredericktown, Missouri, and departed this life on September 28, 2020 at Clark’s Mountain Nursing Center in Piedmont, Missouri, at the age of 85 years.

Mrs. Barker was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Patterson, Missouri and she was a homemaker.

On January 9, 1953, in Pocahontas, Arkansas, she was united in marriage to William (Bill) Barker.  Mr. Barker preceded her in death on August 10, 2018.

She is survived by; two daughters, Jeanne Tittle and her husband Ed of Union City, Tennessee and Pam Stause and her husband Brad of Dexter, Missouri; by her brother, Jimmy Guinn of Fredericktown, Missouri; by three grandchildren, Holly Turner and her husband Stephen of Union City, Tennessee, BM3 Ariel Wlodarcik of San Diego, California, and Ryan Wlodarcik of Columbia, Missouri; by one great-granddaughter, Stella Turner of Union City, Tennessee; and by many nieces and nephews.

Other than by her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Guinn and Ronnie Guinn; by three sisters, Delores Mann, Peggy Hovis, and Donna Harper; and by her granddaughter, Dawn Tittle.

Private, family only, graveside services will be conducted at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield on Monday, October 5, 2020.

In Memory of Jimmie Dale Norris

Jimmie Dale Norris, son of the late Herman Norris and Elsie Sifford Norris, was born on December 10, 1931 in Chaffee, Missouri, and departed this life on September 27, 2020 at his residence in Puxico, Missouri, at the age of 88 years.

Mr. Norris was a Veteran of the United States Navy, serving in the Korean War.  He was a former millwright machine repairman for General Motors in Flint, Michigan.  For 15 years, he was a volunteer at the VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.   Jim was a member of the Puxico General Baptist Church.  He was always involved in church; he was a Sunday school teacher, led worship services, and he was a church secretary. 

On October 28, 1961, in Flint, Michigan, he was united in marriage to Deloris Jean Pruett.  Mrs. Norris survives of their home in Puxico.

In addition to his wife Jean, he is survived by two sons, Jimmie Dale Norris Jr. and wife Nancy of NE, Pennsylvania and Daniel Norris and wife Angie of Cedar Hill, Missouri; by his daughter, Mary Fields and husband David of Farmers Branch, Texas; by his sister, Floella Deardorff of Aid, Missouri; by five grandchildren, Hannah Bedrosian, Dani Agre, Madison Norris, Connor Fields, and McKaylee Norris; by two great-grandchildren, Luca Bedrosian and Edith Bedrosian; and by one brother-in-law, two sisters-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.

Other than by his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Russell Norris, by his sister, Vera Almond; and by his grandson, Jimmie Dale Norris III.

Visitation will be held at the Assembly of God Church in Bloomfield, Missouri on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. 

Funeral services will then be conducted at the Assembly of God Church on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Daniel Norris and Rev. David Fields officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with Rev. Kenneth Lambert officiating and with full military honors.

Memorials may be made to The Kinder Church for John 3:16 Ministries, 75 Holmes Road, Charlotte, Arkansas 72522.

In Memory of John Reeder Rushing

John Reeder Rushing, son of the late John Rushing and Vinie Mae Ray Rushing, was born on May 25, 1928 in Senath, Missouri, and departed this life on September 23, 2020 at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 92 years.

Mr. Rushing was a Veteran of the United States Navy, serving in the Pacific during World War II.   He was a former station agent for the St. Louis Southwestern Railroad.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bernie, Missouri and the Bloomfield Masonic Lodge.  He enjoyed fishing and watching the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball.

He was united in marriage to Patricia Miller on December 24, 1966 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.  Mrs. Rushing survives at their home in Jackson, Missouri.

In addition to his wife Patricia, he is survived by three daughters, Dollie Nell Hafer of Lake City, Arkansas, Jacki Fleming and husband Wes of Summerville, South Carolina, and Jennifer Harris and husband Glen of Benton, Kentucky; by his sister, Sue Bogadi of Southaven, Mississippi; and by nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sons, Johnny Rushing Clayton and James Mitchell Rushing; by his brother Robert Rushing; and by his two sisters, Mildred Bost and Dollie Earl.

Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie on Monday, September 28, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. 

Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Chapel at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Gary Gilbert officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, with full military honors. 

The Rushing family requests that everyone wear face coverings.

In Memory of Terry Randall Griffey

Terry Randall Griffey, son of the late Ike Griffey and Ruth Henson Griffey, was born on December 20, 1959 in Sikeston, Missouri, and departed this life on September 23, 2020 at his daughter’s residence in Dexter, Missouri at the age of 60 years.

Terry was employed as a heavy equipment operator by Delta Asphalt for almost 30 years.  He was a former member of the Dexter Eagles and he was a member of the Dexter Elks Lodge #2439.  Terry enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he was especially proud of his arrowhead collection.  Terry was a life-long resident of Dexter and graduated from Dexter High School in 1978, where he excelled in football, wrestling, and track.

Terry is survived by his long-time friend and companion, Sylvia Webster of Kennett, Missouri; by his two sons, Andrew Webster (Mindy) and Christopher Webster, both of Kennett, Missouri; by his daughter, Angie Seabaugh (Matt) of Dexter, Missouri; by his brother, Roy Don Griffey of Wappapello, Missouri; by his aunt, Gale Henson of Bloomfield, Missouri; by five grandchildren, Ariel Webster, Tayzie Webster, Raiden Webster, Ethan Kirkley, and J. J. Seabaugh; and by many other family and friends.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents; and by his brother, Roger “Butch” Griffey.

Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Friday, September 25, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. 

Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Chapel on Friday, September 25, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. 

Interment will follow in the Sadler Chapel Cemetery in Dexter. 

A fellowship will be held at the Lighthouse Christian Church in Dexter beginning at 2:30 p.m.
