In Memory of Richard Hodder

In Memory of Richard Hodder

Richard Hodder, son of the late Russell Frederick Hodder and Mary Frances Holloway Hodder, was born on July 13, 1931 in San Diego, California and departed this life on February 16, 2017 at his residence in Dexter, Missouri at the age of 85.

Mr. Hodder was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dexter where he served as Deacon. He was a Veteran of The United States Air Force and served in the Korean War. He was the former owner of Thunderbird Lanes, he worked for many years at Coffey & Camp Lumber Company with his father-in-law, and served on the Planning and Zoning Committee for the City of Dexter.

On June 25, 1953, he was united in marriage to Joyce Coffey.  Mrs. Hodder survives of the home.

He served his family, his friends, his church, his community, and his country with faithfulness, efficiency, and punctuality.  Our lives are emptier for his passing, but richer for his love and example.

Besides his wife, Joyce, he is survived by two daughters, Pamela Trammell of Dexter and Diane Hall (Steve) of Dexter; by two grandchildren, Tyler Trammell and Matt Hall of Dexter; one great-grandson, Hunter Hall of Dexter.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Terri Sue Hodder; one grandson, Andrew Trammell.

Friends may call at the Rainey Mathis Funeral Home on Monday, February 20, 2017 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. 

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at 2:00 PM in Rainey Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Don Kennedy, Rev. Howard Fuller and Rev. Wayne Dismuke officiating.

Interment will follow at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.

In Memory of Phillip Ivy

Phillip Eugene Ivy, son of Joyce Fox Swinger of Circle City and the late Frank Ivy, was born on January 18, 1953 in Chicago, Illinois and departed this life on February 16, 2017 at his residence in Dexter at the age of 64.

Mr. Ivy was a Veteran of the United States Army, was a cabinet maker for W.W. Wood Products in Dudley.

He was united in marriage to Kathy Blunt on January 24, 1980 in Clines Island, Missouri.  Mrs. Ivy survives of the home in Dexter.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons and their spouses Jason Ivy (Tessa) of Essex and Ethon Ivy (Jessica) of Dexter; by his mother, Joyce Swinger of Circle City; one brother, Bruce Ivy of Bloomfield; by three grandchildren, Damon Ivy, Judah Ivy and Zoey Ivy.

Friends may call at the Lighthouse Christian Center in Dexter on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. 

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at the Lighthouse Christian Center at Dexter at 1:00 PM with Rev. Tim Russell officiating. 

Interment will follow at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield

In Memory of Doyle Richard

Doyle Gene Richard, son of Eula Mae Hatchel Richard Carson and the late George Pete Richard, was born in Marston, Missouri on October 8, 1939 and departed this life at his residence in Bernie, Missouri on February 13, 2017 at the age of 77.

Mr. Richard was a Truck Driver and a member of Corner Gospel Fellowship in Bernie.
 
He was united in marriage to Carol Jean Ward in 1967 in Springfield, Illinois.  Mrs. Richard survives in their home in Bernie.
 
Other Survivors include his mother, Eula Carson of Bernie, Missouri; by one daughter, Theresa Mae Richard Elsworth & husband Dean; by two brothers, Robert Carson of Malden, Missouri and Ronnie Carson of Bernie, Missouri; by five sisters, Shirley Marie Alvis of Bernie, Missouri, Georgia Schmeig of Granite City, Illinois, Nora Fummeler of Rushville, Missouri, Brenda Owens of Marshall, Missouri and Pam Carson Gandt of Advance, Missouri; by two grandchildren, Daniel Ray Richard of Bernie, Missouri and Marcus Keith Singleton & wife Paige of Dexter, Missouri; also by other relatives and many friends.
 
He was preceded in death other than by his father, by four brothers, Chester Richard, Glendell Richard, Darrel Carson and Roger Carson.
 
A Memorial Service will be conducted on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Corner Gospel Fellowship in Bernie, Missouri starting at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Don Wells officiating. 

Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home of Bernie in charge of all arrangements.

In Memory of Jess Brown, Jr.

Jess Marion Brown, Jr. of Dexter, the son of Jess Marion, Sr. and the late Lura Mae Wilson Brown, was born in Frisco, Missouri on February 29, 1928, and passed away at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on February 12, 2017, at the age of 88 years, 11 months and 15 days.

Mr. Brown grew up in Frisco before moving to California with his wife. He returned to Dexter in 1988 after retiring as Postmaster of Santa Ana, California.

He was a member of the Church of the Brethren in Frisco, Missouri, helped with his family farm and was a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps, serving during the Korean Conflict.

On May 19, 1948, he was married to Colleen Marie Robinson in Piggott, Arkansas. She preceded him in death on October 8, 2008.

Surviving are one brother, Bob Lee Brown of Dexter, many neices and nephews. Other relatives and many friends also survive. He was preceded in death by five sisters, Mildred Tippen, Myrtle Millington, Ruth Coffey, Clara Baker, Willene Swinger and two brothers, Lloyd Brown and Lester Brown.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 17, 2017, at 11:00 AM at the  Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with Rev. James Malloy of Essex officiating.

Interment will follow in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.

Memorials may be made to St. Judes Children's Research Hospital. 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

In Memory of Tressie Logan

Tressie Logan, daughter of the late Herbert Causbie and Bertha Cunningham Causbie, was born in Ash Flat, Arkansas on April 9, 1921 and departed this life at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on February 13, 2017 at the age of 95.

Mrs. Logan had worked at Brown Shoe Company in Bernie, Missouri until her retirement, was a homemaker and a member of Bernie Nazarene Church.

She was united in marriage to Chelsie Logan in Dexter, Missouri on January 29, 1937.  Mr. Logan preceded his wife in death on October 13, 1972.
 
She was preceded in death, other than by her parents and her husband, by one son, Jerry Logan; by one brother, Orvis Causbie; by one sister, Ina Roberts.

Other survivors include one son, Larry Logan & wife Bonnie of Bernie, Missouri; by one Daughter-In-Law, Joan Logan of Dexter, Missouri; by one sister, Neva Young of Dexter, Missouri; by eight grandchildren, Deanna Burke, Lisa Spitzer, Lana Temples, Staci Lane, Jolean Duer, Gale Humphrey, Randy Humphrey and Leslie Humphrey; also by fourteen great-grandchildren and Nine great-great-grandchildren; also by other relatives and friends.
 
Friends may call at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie, Missouri on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. 

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday Morning, February 16, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Bernie. 

Interment will follow in Chalk Bluff Cemetery, Dexter, Missouri.
