In Memory of Margery

Margery "Bobbie" Becking was born in the family home September 14, 1926 to Pansy and Walter Miller.  She lived most of her life in Bernie, Missouri. 

After graduating Bernie High School at the age of 16, Bobbie Attended Southeast Missouri State for a short time before returning to Bernie to teach 1st through 4th grades at Brady School. 

In 1946 Bobbie married John Becking.  They were married for 65 years before his death in May of 2011.  In addition to raising three children and helping on the farm, Bobbie worked at Brown Shoe Company, Sears Roebuck, MFA and the Bernie bank.  Bobbie had a gift of nurturing; she loved to watch little sprouts grow, both plant and human.  She also had the gift of hospitality and cooked countless meals for family and friends as well as the sick and grieving.  She was an avid reader, gardener and seamstress. 

Bobbie was also active in her community and church through the years participating in 4-H, The Tuesday Club, WMU and teaching Sunday School.  At the time of her death she was a member of the Bernie United Methodist Church.

Bobbie was a friend and mentor to many in her life.  In addition to the friends she leaves behind, Bobbie is survived by her three children, Jeannie Burchell & husband Dennis of Piggott, Arkansas; Barry Becking of Dumas, Arkansas; Judith Hargett & husband Steve of Jackson, Missouri; by five grandchildren, Beth Scott of Piggott, Arkansas, Lori Hartwig of Paragould, Arkansas, Jason Becking & wife Kim of Columbia, Missouri, Eric Becking & wife Tina of Cape Girardeau, Missouri and Jonathan Becking & wife Katherine of Cordova, Tennessee.  She is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren and her devoted sister, Patricia Rushing, as well as many nieces and nephews.  

She was preceded in death other than by her parents and her husband, by three siblings, Vada McClard, Dacey Miller and infant brother, Dawsey Miller.

Friends may call at Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie, Missouri on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. 

Funeral Services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Chapel in Bernie at 11:00 A.M.  Rev. Susan Marner-Sides and Rev. Jayne Markin officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri at 12:00 P.M.
