Jerry Winford Cooper, went to his heavenly home on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at his residence in Bloomfield at the age of 80.
Jerry, son of the late Raymond and Blanche “Mason” Cooper was born on September 5, 1941, in Bloomfield, Missouri. On September 17, 1960, he was united in marriage to Charlotte Johnson in Bloomfield, Missouri. To this union was born a son, Jerry Brent Cooper, who preceded him in death on December 10, 2013.
Upon completing High School, he was employed with the International Hat Company in Dexter, Missouri and eventually became plant manager for several years. In 1985 he, along with his cousins, Gerald and Ivan Griffin started the industry U.S. Poly Enterprises, Inc. located in Dexter, Missouri.
Anyone that knew Jerry, would know about his relationship and passion for the Lord. He was always eager to share his personal testimony concerning his faith in Jesus Christ. He was an ordained minister and served in the ministry for many years. Jerry was an active supporter of Metro Ministries, founded by Bill Wilson. At the time of death, he was a member of The Assembly Church in Bloomfield, Missouri, where he had previously served as a board member.
Building hot rod motors for his car, riding motorcycles, and flying airplanes were passions of Jerry’s. He had a great love for his horses, mules, land, and all things with nature.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Charlotte Cooper of their home in Bloomfield. Other survivors include, one sister, Ramona Cooper Kelley and husband Farrel of Bloomfield, Missouri and one brother, Roger Cooper and wife Lynne of Essex, Missouri. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Other than by his son, and parents, he was preceded in death by his infant brother, Carson Cooper.
Many friends and loved ones also mourn his passing.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 27, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, May 27, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. in the Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Dwight Hensley officiating.
Interment will follow in the Oak Ridge Cemetery in rural Bloomfield, Missouri.
