
Kathleen “Kitty” Short Kandalaft, daughter of the late Kenneth Short and Martha Lester Short, was born on August 17, 1930, in Indian Creek, West Virginia, and departed this life on April 7, 2022, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, at the age of 91 years.
Mrs. Kandalaft was a former educator with the Sikeston Public School System in Sikeston, Missouri, where she taught third grade for 20 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dexter, Missouri, and a resident of Dexter. She was a former member of the Dexter School Board and Missouri State School Board.
A lifelong learner, Kitty loved literacy, music, nature, and poetry. She began her college career at Concord College in Princeton, West Virginia before transferring to Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina, where she learned to play the harp, and obtained her music degree. In 1957, she earned her master’s degree in education from Northeast Missouri State Teachers College. Aside from motherhood, one of the highlights of her life was obtaining her private airplane pilot’s license in 1971.
During her lifetime Kitty traveled extensively. She toured England, Rome, Venice, Paris, Spain, Portugal, Katmandu, Lebanon, Jordan, Amsterdam, Israel, Switzerland, and Germany. She visited Belgium via the Channel from England. Her favorite spot was Vienna, Austria, because of the musical influences, and because it was so clean.
While attending Bob Jones University, she met her first husband, Dr. Fuad Kandalaft and to this union four daughters were born, Victoria, Catherine, Patricia, and Leila. On April 14, 2007, she was then united in marriage to Dr. Floyd C. Northington. Dr. Northington preceded her in death on March 9, 2016.
She is survived by her daughters, Victoria Kandalaft of Germantown, Tennessee, Catherine Kandalaft Clippard of Ozark, Missouri, Patricia Kandalaft of Seattle, Washington, and Leila Kandalaft of Ludwigsburg, Germany; by her brother, Michael Short of Kentucky; by her sister, Patsy Harrington of Fayette, Missouri; and by seven grandchildren Arabella McGowan, Ayman McGowan, Martha Grace Clippard, Luke Clippard, Leila Serene Heidsieck, Helena Stroetmann, and Alexander Stroetmann.
Other than by her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Douglas Short and by her sister, Dorothy Short.
Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Sunday, April 10, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Funeral services will then be conducted at the First United Methodist Church in Dexter on Monday, April 11, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Larry Lawman officiating. Interment will follow in the New Bethel Ezell Cemetery.

Roy Lee Roberts, son of the late Lola Springer, was born on September 5, 1941, in Perry, Iowa, and departed this life on April 7, 2022, at Parkland Health in Farmington, Missouri, at the age of 80 years.
Mr. Roberts was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving in Vietnam. He was a former employee of NER in Blytheville, Arkansas. He attended the Lighthouse Christian Center in Dexter, Missouri, and was a resident of Dexter. Roy loved NASCAR and baseball, and he played baseball into his 40’s.
On February 14, 1998, in Paragould, Arkansas, he was united in marriage to Ginger Young. Mrs. Roberts survives of their home in Dexter.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Kris Roberts of Sartell, Minnesota and Angela Harris of Grimes, Iowa; by three step-daughters, Tammy Hutchison of Flippin, Arkansas, Wendy Salas and husband JC of Atlanta, Georgia, and Lorie Wilson of St. Louis, Missouri, by his brother, Dale Roberts of Iowa; and by fifteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
Other than by his mother, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Roberts and Butch Roberts; and by his sister, Betty Roberts.
Visitation will be held at the Lighthouse Christian Center on Monday, April 11, 2022, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Funeral Services will then be conducted on Monday, April 11, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Tim Russell officiating. Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.

Robert “Bob” Newell, son of the late Frank Newell and Francis Gibbs Newell was born on December 29, 1931, in Oxnard, California and departed this life on April 6, 2022, at the age of 90.
Mr. Newell was a Veteran of the United States Army having served with the Europe Occupational Forces during the Korean War. He was a welder and fabricator in Ventura, California. Bob was a member of the Dexter Masonic Lodge and the Dexter Elks Lodge #2439. He enjoyed smoking meat at the Elks Lodge. Due to his contributions to little league a field was named after him in Arroya Verde Park in Ventura, California.
On May 27, 1983, he was united in marriage to Anne Smith in Oxnard, California. Mrs. Newell survives of their home in Dexter, Missouri.
Other than by his wife, he is survived by three sons, Roger Newell and wife Susan of Fresno, California, Michael Newell and wife Debbie of Apex, North Carolina, and Paul Smith and wife Brenda of Perry, Utah; by two daughters, Cristi Newell of Ventura, California and Kim Crockett and husband Davy of Dexter, Missouri; by nine grandchildren, Brianne, April Lynn, Kayla Rose, Derek, Ethan, Roselene, Elizabeth, Ariel, and Tristan; by five great-grandchildren, Scarlett, Malachi, Chance Patrick, Harper, and Justin; and by special friends, James and Diane Sawyer of Newberry, Massachusetts, and other relatives.
Other than by his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Arlene Gibbs.

Marcus Arnold Glass of Bloomfield, Missouri son of the late Billy Gene Glass and Phyllis Ann (Russell) Glass born on April 10, 1962 in Kennett Missouri, passed away on April 3, 2022 in Dexter, Missouri at the age of 59 years.
Marcus lived most of his life near Bloomfield, Missouri. Marcus attended the Lighthouse Church in Dexter, Missouri and was a Masonic Lodge Member. Marcus spent much of his life devoted to practicing law.
Marcus was married to Macheal Rae Chrisman on July 4, 2014 in Corning, Arkansas.
Marcus was preceded in death by his father Billy Gene Glass and one brother Richard Glass.
Marcus is survived by his wife Macheal Glass of the home, his mother Phyllis Glass of Springfield, Missouri; two brothers Billy Glass Jr. of North Port, Florida and Josh Glass of Pleasant Hope, Missouri; one sister Denise Gregg of Walnut Grove, Missouri; two sons Alex Malloy of Branson, Missouri and Gabriel Rabideau of Branson, Missouri; one daughter Hayley Cobb of Puxico, Missouri; several nephews and nieces as well as a host of friends.
Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M - 12:00 P.M on Friday April 8, 2022 with funeral service following at the Watkins And Sons Funeral Chapel in Bloomfield, Missouri.
Internment will follow at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with Brother Russ Oliver of Dexter Missouri officiating and Watkins and Sons Funeral Home of Bloomfield in charge of all arrangements.

Gary A. Gough of Dexter, Missouri son of the late Chester and Velta (Whitehead) Gough born in Bernie, Missouri on June 18, 1944 and passed away on April 03, 2022 in Dexter, Missouri at the age of 77 years.
Gary went to Church of Christ in Bernie, Missouri. He was a Tool and Dye Supervisor for General Motors for 34 years before retiring. He was a member of UAW.
Gary married Sandra Bateman on December 26, 1996 in Dexter, Missouri.
Gary is survived by his wife Sandra Gough; one son Geric A (Jessica) Gough of Commerce, Michigan; one stepson Kevin (Kristin) Crawford of Dexter, Missouri; one daughter Nicoll (Marc) Lang-Ward of Howell, Michigan; eight grandchildren Dana Marie (Michael) Vigne, Brandon (Jade) Lang, Samantha (Chazy) Bryan, Zachary (Lauren) Lang, Lucas Crawford, Haley Crawford, Crawford Gough and Landon Crawford; six great grandchildren; two sisters Linda (Murray) Heisler of Tennessee and Janis Jackson of Kansas City, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents Chester and Velta Gough; one daughter Colleen Massey; one grandson Logan Crawford; two sisters Patty Smith and Annis Gough. A host of family and friends also survive.
Visitation will be held on Thursday April 7, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
Graveside Services will be held on Thursday April 7, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at the Bernie Cemetery in Bernie, Missouri with Minister Mitch Granger officiating and Watkins and Sons Funeral Home of Dexter in charge of all arrangements.
