In Memory of Georgia Mae Newcomer
Georgia Mae Newcomer, daughter of the late G.E. “Witt” Brown and Alice Mae Welborn Brown was born on February 21, 1925, in Bloomfield, Missouri, and departed this life on May, 12, 2019, at the Winchester Nursing Home in Bernie at the age of 94.

Mrs. Newcomer was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Bloomfield.  She had worked in Dr. Beckett’s office in Bloomfield for a number of years.  She had been a member at the Bloomfield Country Club and was active in their Women’s Golf Association.  She was an avid golfer, with six holes in one.  She also enjoyed listening to her family play and sing music and played the saxophone herself.

She was first united in marriage to Marvin E. Smith on June 21, 1945, in Bloomfield, Missouri.  Mr. Smith preceded her in death.  She later married J.C. Newcomer of Bloomfield, her best friend and life companion, who also preceded her in death on July 1, 2001.

She is survived by one son, Mike Smith and wife Beth of Cypress, Texas; by one daughter, Marla Jo Swindell of Bloomfield, Missouri; by three step-daughters, Cindy Brown, Lindy Kersey and Jo Anne Newcomer; by six grandchildren, Jeremy Swindell and wife Amy, Stephanie Monroe, Michael B. Smith and wife Brooke, Amos Smith and wife Jennifer, Ben Smith, Cole Smith and wife Sarah; by four step-grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and five step great-grandchildren. 

 Besides her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Haskell Brown and Joel Brown; by one sister, Louise Bennett and one grandson-in-law, Josh Monroe.

Friends may visit at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Bloomfield on Thursday, May 16, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. 

A memorial service will then be conducted on Thursday, May 16, 2019, at 5:00 p.m. in the Trinity United Methodist chapel in Bloomfield with Pastor Alice Fowler officiating. 

Memorials may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church, 704 West Missouri Street, Bloomfield, Missouri 63825 OR Bloomfield R-14 Foundation, 505 Court Street, Bloomfield, Missouri 63825.

Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter is in charge of all arrangements.
