A Facebook message that is actually a hoax has now gone viral.
The message reads:
“Hi… I actually got another friend request from you yesterday which I ignored so you may want to check your account."
The message tells Facebook users to hold their finger on the message until the forward button appears and then tells them to forward it to all of their friends.
Officials encourage you to ignore the message and not to follow the message instructions because it only spreads the hoax further.
People need to stop and think about what they are really reading. Most just click and go and never think about what type of "damage" they are doing by continually spreading either fake messages or even fake posts. Not everything you see and read on Facebook is the truth!
There is no bug or virus currently confirmed that is sending your Friends fake requests.
If your Facebook is hacked, there are ways to fix the problem and preventative measures to take to make sure yours does not become compromised.
The easiest steps you can take to prevent your account from being hacked is to change your password regularly, report a hacked account, and report suspicious messages.
