In Memory of Jerry Sills
Jerry Allen Sills, son of the late Etchel Isaac Sills and Gladys Imogene Byrd  was born on December 31, 1949 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri and departed this life on July 20, 2017 at the Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 67.

Mr. Sills was the Golf Course Superintendent at the Hank Watson Malden Municipal Golf Course for twenty-seven years.  He was a Veteran of the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War.  He was a member of the Bernie General Baptist Church and a resident of Bernie.

He was first united in marriage to Sharon Allen on September 1, 1969 in Clarkton, Missouri and she preceded him in death on December 19, 2009.  He was then united in marriage to Joy Hatchel on October 30, 2011 in Bernie.  Mrs. Sills survives of their home in Bernie.

Besides his wife he is survived by two daughters, Shari Hay and her husband, Daryl of Doniphan, Missouri and Shelly Lane and her husband, JJ of Jackson, Missouri; by one son Jeremy Sills and his wife Stacy of Malden and by one step-son, Chad Cook and his wife Nicole of Bernie; by three brothers, Gary Sills and wife Bonnie of Malden, Ronnie Vandergriff and wife Rose of Dexter and James Vandergriff of Texas; by one sister, Mary Lou Vandergriff of Malden; by eight grandchildren, Courtney Rawlings and husband Levi, Austin Calvert and wife Liz, Logan Sills, Macy Hanner, Abbey Arnold, Emma Lane, Nick Arnold, Zach Lane; by one step-grandchild, Jadon Cook and by three great-grandchildren, Brayden Reed, Landyn Rawlings and Easton Rawlings.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in DEXTER on Sunday, July 23, 2017 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.  

Funeral services will then be conducted on Monday, July 24, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in DEXTER with Rev. Chad Cook officiating.  

Interment will follow in the Rosewood Cemetery in Malden.
