
Dexter, Missouri - Madison Bishop received the 2016 Stoddard County Green Clover Scholarship. Madison has been a member of the Show Me 4-H Club for 10 years and has held the office of President.
She has won various 4-H awards, taken part in many community service projects and has been an avid fair participant. Madison plans to attend Arkansas State University in the fall and study Psychology or Finance and Occupational Therapy.
Madison is the daughter of Beau and Crystal Bishop of Dexter.

Dexter, Missouri - At the Missouri State Society Children of the American Revolution Conference held March 12-13 in Columbia, MO, three Dexter residents won awards.
Tyler Stevenson, Dexter High School senior won 1st place in the State Chaplain’s contest and 1st place in the State American History contest. The American History contest was for the best narrative on a teenage participant in the Battle of Bunker Hill.
Walker Jarrell a first grade student at Southwest Elementary won 2nd place in the State Treasurer’s contest (10 & younger) and 1st place in the State National President’s contest (10 & younger).
Weston Jarrell, student at Small Wonders, won 2nd place in the State National President’s contest (Peewee).
Walker and Weston are the sons of Brad and Sarah Jarrell of Dexter.
Tyler is the son of Kay Stevenson of Dexter and Keith Stevenson of Theodosia, Missouri.

Dexter, Missouri - The glory days of America's wild frontier are long gone, but you can take a step back in time and relive a little history in Dexter on April 1st, 2nd and 3rd at East Park located on Hwy 114.
Pioneers in the Park will feature a Living History Encampment taking you back to the 1800's where the smell of kettle corn will tickle your senses. Old Buckskinners will talk of tall tales and entertain you with their old fashioned music. A blacksmith will be on hand to demonstrate and create antique iron pieces.
There is something for everyone to see and do when you attend a Living History event such as this one. Indulge your senses with the aroma and taste of old fashioned rootbeer, lemonade, homemade candy, ham & beans, chicken & dumplins, and kettle corn. Children and adults can try their hand at shooting a bow, throwing a hawk or an atlatl.
Stop by and see the educational tent and see live turtles, lots of skulls and pelts. Kids receive a free prize if they stop by!!
At noon and 3 p.m. the infamous Candy Cannon filled to the top will delight the children. It's fun to watch as the kids yell, "Fire in the hole!" before lighting the fuse! You can hear the "boom" and watch the children scramble for candy.
There will be a gun raffle and a 50/50 raffle to raise money to Keep Living History Alive.
The event begins Friday, April 1st with the modern crafts and a pageant on Saturday. Come out Saturday night, bring your S'mores and enjoy music around the campfire.
Proceeds go to help support the Dexter Parks & Recreation to purchase equipment for their sports program.

Dexter, Missouri - The Dexter Chamber of Commerce recently held a ribbon cutting for Mail n' More.
The store is owned by Teresa Neeley and offers shipping, packing, copying, faxing, laminating, banners, computer rental, mailbox rental, fingerprinting, a notary, and office supplies. They even make passport photos!
Mail n' More is conveniently located at 205 W. Business US Highway 60 in Dexter. You can also ship via Fed-Ex, USPS, UPS, and DHL as well as receive packages at their location.
They are open Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. - noon.

Dexter, Missouri - The Chamber of Commerce in Dexter hosted a ribbon cutting for Q's Comics & Games on Wednesday, March 16th.
Q's Comics is owned by the Quertermous family, Travis and Kelly and their son Brandon.
Q's Comics offers a full line of new and used comic books dating back to the 1940's, board games, role playing games, card games, action figures and toys.
They are open from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday and offer several special activities both weekly and monthly.
Each Saturday morning they host a Kids Comic Hour from 11:00 a.m. - noon. They serve snacks and each kids gets a free little gift!
Every Tuesday night beginning at 6:00 p.m. Yu-Gi-Oh Tournament card games with a $5.00 fee.
On Thursday, March 24th Q's Comics will be at Dexter Twin Cinema for the opening of Batman vs Superman Dawn of Justice movie! Free gift bags and coupons will be handed out! You don't want to miss this event!
Saturday, March 26th Easter photos with Iron Man, Thor & Supergirl! Photos will be 5x7 and $5.00 each along with a FREE gift with every photo purchased.
On March 31st they will host their monthly Family Game Nigh - Free!
