Violet W. Smith
Violet W. Smith, daughter of the late Wilburn and Julia C. Self Raybron, was born on April 18, 1920, in Morehouse, Missouri and passed away at the Golden Living Center in Malden, Missouri on February 28 2015, at the age of 94 years, 10 months and 10 days.

Violet grew up in the Essex area where she owned her own restaurant.

She then moved the St. Charles, Illinois where she worked for Continental Plastics where she retired. She moved back to Bernie,

Missouri in 1985. Having out lived all three husbands, Ambrose Brown, Jay Hester, and Chester Smith. Violet was of the Church Of Christ faith.
Violet is survived by three sons, Dennis Brown of Henderson, Nevada, Marty Smith of Bernie, Missouri, Scott Smith of Rochelle, Illinios; one daughter, Lynn Smith of Cortland, Illinios; fourteen grandchildren; several great grandchildren; numberous great great grandchildren; and one sister, Pansy Zimmerman of Bernie, Missouri.

Many other relatives and friends also survive. Violet was preceded in death by two sons Garry W. Raybron, Randy Hester, one daughter, Phyllis Gilmore and three grandchildren.

Friends may visit Tuesday March 3, 2015, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday 4, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. Stan Dauck of Bernie, Missouri officiating.

Interment with be in the Smith Stevenson Cemetery near Dexter, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.

Fern M. McGuire

Fern M. McGuire, daughter of the late Harold Shipman and Dorothy Richards Shipman, was born on September 11, 1962 in Advance, Missouri and departed this life on February 24, 2015 at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 52.

Mrs. McGuire worked at Fuwell Residential Care and was a resident of Dexter.

On December 25, 2005, she was united in marriage to James K. McGuire.  Mr. McGuire survives of the home.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Aaron Shepherd of Dexter and Timothy Shepherd of Bloomfield; by three daughters, Liberty Shepherd of Dexter, Amber Craft of Bloomfield and Crystal Brown of Bloomfield; by two brothers, Claude O’Dell-Beagley of Texas and Christopher Beagley of Bowling Green, Missouri; by two sisters, Connitta Beagley of St.Louis and Carol Shipman-Fouts of Flippen, Arkansas; and by ten grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Monday, March 2, 2015 from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. 

Funeral services will be conducted in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel at 3:00 P.M.  Interment will follow in the Puxico Cemetery.

Stella Linson
Stella Linson, daughter of the late John C. and Georgia Potter Hodge, was born in Harrisburg, Illinois on June 9, 1924, and passed away at the Puxico Nursing Center in Puxico, Missouri on February 25, 2015, at the age of 80 years, 2 months and 8 days.

She had lived in Michigan until moving to Puxico in 1976. She had worked as a nurse at the Pontiac General Hospital in Pontiac, Michigan and was a member of the Puxico General Baptist Church.

On May 12, 1947, she was married to Raymond "Bud" Linson in Pontiac, Michigan. He preceded her in death on October 14, 1996.

Surviving are four sons, Jim Linson and Don Linson both of Warren, Michigan, Raymond Linson of Puxico, Glen Linson of Waterford, Michigan; two daughters, Norma Robertson of Lapeer, Michigan, Rita Gilbreath of Union Lake, Michigan; thirteen grandchildren; and several great grandchildren. Other relatives and friends also survive.

She was preceded in death by one son, Roy Linson and four brothers.

Friends may call on Monday, March 2, 2015, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri.

Services will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at 11:00 am at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico, Missouri with Bro. Kenneth Lambert of Puxico officiating.

Interment will follow in the Puxico Cemetery in Puxico with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico, Missouri in charge of arrangements.

Wyatt Joel Glastetter

Wyatt Joel Glastetter, 3, of Jackson, Missouri, found Heaven on Thursday, February 26, 2015 after a long courageous battle with neuroblastoma, pediatric sympathetic nervous system cancer.

He was born April 12, 2011 in Cape Girardeau to Ray and Stacy (Slinkard) Glastetter.

Wyatt loved animals, loved to swing and watch cartoons. He enjoyed playing on his blue I-pad and wouldn’t go anywhere without his blue blankie. Wyatt had an infectious smile and spirit. He touched many lives and as his name states, he was a "little warrior of God."

Survivors include his parents, Ray and Stacy Glastetter of Jackson; paternal grandparents, Melvin and Cecilia Glastetter of New Hamburg, Missouri; many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ernest and Serrelda Slinkard; uncle, Joel Slinkard.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 1, 2015 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m. Sunday.

Funeral service will be Monday, March 2, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Father John Harth officiating.

Burial will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorial contributions may be given to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer.

Beverly Jane Lewis
Beverly Jane Lewis of St. Louis, Missouri, daughter of the late Samuel and Stewart, was born in Coal City, Illinois on December 16, 1934, and passed away at her home in St. Louis, Missouri on February 24, 2015, at the age of 86 years, 6 months and 30 days.

Beverly had worked at Mid-West Forest Products in cabinet making. She was a member of the Victory Chapel in St. Louis, Missouri.

On April 23, 1954, she married Jesse Lewis in St. Louis, Missouri. He preceded her in death on February 20, 1999.

Surviving are three sons, James Lewis of Fredericktown, Missouri, Jerry Lewis and David Lewis both of St. Louis, Missouri; one daughter, Shirley Lewis of Fredericktown, Missouri; and seven grandchildren.  Many other relatives and friends also survive.

Friends may call on Saturday, February 28, 2015, from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Bro. Mikel Burton of Poplar Bluff officiating.

Burial will be in the Gravel Hill Cemetery near Bloomfield, Missouri and Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.
