
George Barks, son on Maggie Mae Shelton Howell and the late Henry Barks was born on January 13, 1942 in Charleston, Missouri and departed this life on Wednesday October 12, 2011 at his residence in Dexter, Missouri at the age of 69 years.
Mr. Barks was a former owner and operator of Barks Excavating and Landscaping in Dexter.
On August 17, 1962 he was united in marriage to Lola Akridge in Essex, Missouri. Mrs. Barks survives of the home in Dexter.
Besides his wife, Lola Barks and mother, Maggie Mae Howell both of Dexter, other survivors include two daughters, Deanna Lynne Myers and husband Jeff of Dexter and Tina Michelle Norman and husband Drew also of Dexter; by two brothers, Jerry Wayne Barks and Danny Bruce Barks both of Dexter; three sisters, Henrietta Jones of Olathe, Kansas, Peggy Laird of Wappapello, Missouri, and Rosie Robertson of Dexter; by four grandchildren, Matthew Myers, Courtney Norman, Zachary Lesley and Jordan Myers; also by three step-grandchildren, Ashlie Norman, Kayla Norman and Hanna Norman.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Wilson Howell; by one brother, Ronald Barks and by two sisters, Elizabeth Ann Barks and Betty Tanner.
Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5 until 8 p.m., Friday October 14, 2011. Funeral services will be held on Saturday October 15, 2011 at 11 a.m., in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter with Rev. Kenneth Biggs officiating. Interment will follow in the Armstead Dowdy Cemetery near Dexter.
Betty Reece Meadows, daughter of the late Victor J. Reece and Jeanette White Reece, was born on January 22, 1933 at Townley and departed this life in the Missouri Southern Healthcare at Dexter on October 9, 2011 at the age of 78.
Mrs. Meadows was a former factory worker for Hawley Products at St. Charles, Illinois and a resident of Malden.
She is survived by three sons, Norman Dale Wright of Rockton, Illinois, Gary Wright of Malden and Ronnie Wright of Friedheim: by one daughter, Deborah Flannery of Bernie: by seven grandchildren, April Harland, Brett Wright, Stephen Wright, Kayla Wright, Krystle Wright, Becka Tracy and Stacy Jarrett: by four great-grandchildren, Michael Harland, Madelyn Harland, Josh Jarrett and Justin Jarrett: by her longtime companion, Richard Meadows: by six brothers, Paul Reece of Ladysmith, Wisconsin, James Reece of Doniphan, Roger Reece and Ronnie Reece, both of Malden, Junior Reece and Bobby Reece, both of Malden: by three sisters, Carolyn Reece of Bernie, Joyce Garrett and Linda Blevins, both of Williamsville.
Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie from 12 noon until 2 p.m., Thursday, October 13, 2011. Funeral services will then be conducted at 2 p.m., in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Bernie. Interment will follow in the Stevens Cemetery near Malden.

Mrs. King was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Morehouse. She was a supervisor at both Elder’s Manufacturing in Dexter and Albertson’s Manufacturing in Bunkie, Louisiana. She was a resident of Dexter.
On March 6, 1947 she was united in marriage to Rev. Therman Lee King at Bloomfield. Rev. King preceded her in death on November 3, 2005.
She is survived by two sons, Dennis L. King of Fisk and Randy Lee King of Dexter; by eight daughters, Betty Jean Metcalf of Bloomfield, Bonnie Lockhart of Cape Girardeau, Cathy Jo O’Neal of Prairieville, Louisiana, Connie Hattaway of Alexandria, Louisiana, Regina Mick of Dexter, Robyn Berry of Dexter, Rebecca Maddox of Clarkton and Rhonda King of Columbia, Missouri; by twenty-five grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Besides her husband and parents she was preceded in death by one daughter, Tanya King Robinson and by two brothers, Vader Delano Cooper and Deloit Dean Cooper.

Interment will follow in the Oak Ridge Cemetery in rural Bloomfield.
Gladys DeJournett, daughter of the late William Henry and Mattie Suzanne Scism Warren, was born in Ardeola, Missouri on September 28, 1920, and passed away at her home near Advance, Missouri on October 9, 2011, at the age of 91 years.
Mrs. DeJournett had lived in the area all her life. She was a member of the Bell City General Baptist Church in Bell City, Missouri.
On February 17, 1940, she was married to Alvin DeJournett in Bloomfield, Missouri.
Surviving are her husband, Alvin DeJournett of Advance, Missouri; one son, Alan DeJournett of Advance, Missouri; four daughters, Faye Crutcher of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Shelby Gillilan of Bell City, Missouri, Una Hatfield and Patty Gadberry both of Advance, Missouri; twelve grandchildren; thirty-two great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and one sister, Margaret Woodfin of Advance, Misouri. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by five sons in infancy, two brothers and one sister.
Friends may visit on Tuesday, October 11, 2011, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Blooomfield, Missouri.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, October 12, 2011, at 2 p.m., in the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Turner of Marble Hill, Missouri and Beverly Rhodes of Advance, Missouri officiating.
Interment will be in the Gravel Hill Cemetery near Bloomfield with Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home of Bloomfield in charge of arrangements.

She was born in Brownwood, Missouri to James W. Duffey and Minnie Belle Morris Duffey on November 12, 1920.
She is survived by her husband, Clarence Henry to whom she was married at Piggott, Arkansas on April 29, 1944. Also surviving is one son and spouse, Steve & Laura Henry of Millersville, Missouri, one daughter and spouse, Janet & Bob Rainwater of Puxico, Missouri; one sister, Bertie Cook of Bloomfield, Missouri and two granddaughters, Carol Baker of Poplar Bluff, Missouri and Beth Davis of St. Louis, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Melba Borneman, Inez Hendley and Lucille Wright, two brothers, Raymond and Aymond Duffey, and one infant son.
She was a long time member and Sunday school teacher at the Bloomfield General Baptist Church.
Visitation will be at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield on Monday, October 10, 2011, from 5 until 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be at the Bloomfield General Baptist Church with Brother Kevin Eskew officiating.on Tuesday, October 11, 2011, at 10 a.m.
Interment will be in the Walker Cemetery in Bloomfield with Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home of Bloomfield in charge of arrangements.
