Puxico, Missouri – There is nothing more rewarding than taking your daughter on her first big hunt. It takes time, patients, and a good hunting environment. The type of game is not as important as the methods and means to having a great hunt that will be remembered for a lifetime.
Alex Hanners took his daughter, Jennifer, on her first “real” hunt. Sure they have hunted deer and various other critters in southeast Missouri, but this was Texas. Some say everything's bigger in Texas!
They traveled with Curtis Waggoner , Adam Koehler and Four Corners Archery out of Sedgewickville, Missouri to the Texas ‘S’ Bow Hunting Ranch in Clarksville, Texas to hunt HOGS!
Jennifer Hanners, age 12, and a 6th grader at Puxico Jr. High was eager to hunt with her Dad and his buddies to kill some mean ole’ boar, but she never expected to meet up with a Corsican Ram!
On the weekend of April 6th, carrying only a primitive wooden homemade bow and some handcrafted arrows, she stalked her prey and hit the beautiful 157 lb ram dead center.
“I will hunt with that girl anytime!” exclaimed Dale Kemp, Sergeant at Arms of the Crowley’s Ridge Blackpowder Club and long-time friend of the family. He too hunted with her the entire weekend and harvested his hogs. He remembers when she was just a little princess, dressed in pink and just a baby.Jennifer is your typical young pre-teen student who is not only a beautiful, but also likes to hunt, fish and camp! She loves sports, such as playing basketball at her school, attending school dances, designing and making jewelry, playing the French horn in the school band and singing. She also loves blackpowder rendezvous events, swimming and kayaking.
She is the granddaughter of Dale & Teresa Hanners of Campbell, Missouri and Robert and Elizabeth Eldridge of Winona, Mississippi. They are very proud grandparents and can’t believe how their little girl grew so fast.

Her parents, Alex and Shannon Hanners and little brother, Brandon are very proud of her as well. “I was so excited for my daughter, not only because she got game on our hunt, but because of how she handled herself,” commented Dad. “Jen made good ethical decisions and I saw my little girl grow up right in front of me!”
Piggott Taxidermy in Piggott, Arkansas is currently mounting Jen’s Corsican Ram. She is looking forward to hanging the ram in the living room, right above the television. It should be ready before school starts in August.
Miss Hanners also killed her first hog on this hunt, an 85 lb boar shot with her primitive bow and wooden arrows.
Congratulations Jen on your big hunt! We look forward to seeing pictures of your hunting adventures in the near future.

"We began making soap about three years ago as just something fun to do on a weekend. That one 4-hour soap-making class turned into a passion and so it began. Most of our friends and all of our family got soap of some kind as a gift that year and of course we asked for feedback. We began experimenting with soap recipes and finally came up with a recipe that we liked. We didn't want to just copy someone else's recipe - we wanted to be original! Gaylord Soap Co. didn't actually become a full-fledged business until 2012. We love making all-natural soap and we love the fact that we are able to offer people a choice that doesn't contain all the chemicals that commercial soaps do. As we have begun expanding our product line, we continue to strive to make all-natural, quality products that enhance and make our customers lives better," from the Gaylord's website.
The event begins at 10:00 a.m. and lasts until 2:00 p.m. The Corner Cottage is located at 1424 W. Bus. Hwy 60 in Dexter.

Kristin produced her first CD in 2010 with the help of the Walker Brothers in Bernie, Missouri where she grew up and attended school. "JUMP" was released and has done remarkably well locally with Christian songs such as Reign in Me, Hold Me, Breathe Into Me, Everything, Jesus in the House, A New Melody, and More Than Enough. She credits Coty and Clinton Walker for all their efforts to help her cut her first CD and making the songs available on iTunes.
"Jump" is my fast song and a constant reminder of what God has done for me. The chorus, "make me wanna jump" is motivational and makes me think about everything that I have gone through and what God had done for me," stated a very bubbly young and talented lady. "I get excited about this song and God inspired me to write it to excite others."

Not long after the death of her father, she was invited by a friend to attend the Lighthouse Church. She started helping in the youth program, "The Called" and really started putting her life together with the help of many friends and family and God's hand. "I work at the Lighthouse Church in Dexter presently as an Assistant Office Manager," stated Kristin. "And that allows me to praise the Lord at work and at home. When not helping at church or working, I spend all my free time writing music or singing to do God's work."
"God has never failed me," continued Kristin. Her song, "More Than Enough" is the last song on the album and "no matter what you are going through, God will be there for you and for me."
Producers of Arrow Records have been in contact with her and would like her to travel to Atlanta, Georgia and record. "It's the right opportunity at the right time and I have been praying for this door to open for me." stated Kristin. She plans to travel to Atlanta on May 13th.

"The Church and its members have been awesome and so supportive of me, I can't thank them enough," said Kristin. "I am so grateful to have such a caring family within the church that encourages me to fulfill my dream of singing for the Lord."
Kristin's family, younger sister, Ashlyn, who is a freshman at Bernie High School and her best friend, Heather, are very special to her and she is so very appreciative of all their support. She said she would be lost without her best friend Heather who also sings, designed Kristin's T-shirts and helps with the fundraising. "God put us together and we will always be best friends."
They are hosting a Salad Luncheon fundraiser at the Lighthouse Church for her on Friday, April 26th from 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Cost is $7.00 and includes a drink. Delivery is available and tickets can also be purchased in advance by calling Kristin at 625-3954, Patty Musgrave at 421-0911 or by calling the Church at 624-2500. There will be many choices of salads like a spaghetti salad, taco salad, three-bean salad, and cornbread salad. Sounds absolutely delicious!
Then on May 4th there will be a Bake Sale at the Dollar General Store behind Family Video from 10 a.m. until all the yummy treats are gone. If you would like to donate items for the bake sale please contact Kristin, Patty or the church at the phone numbers listed above.
Her CD, "Jump", t-shirts and other items will also be available to purchase at these two events. Stop by and support this very talented, rising Christian singer who is living her dream of singing for the Lord.
We wish Kristin the best on her journey and your music is very emotional and inspiring. If you haven't had the chance to hear her sing, pick up a CD at the Guiding Light Bookstore or tune in to 90.3. She also has a Facebook page, Kristin Stevens Music.
