Bloomfield, Missouri – The Bloomfield High School Beta Club traveled to Branson, Missouri over the weekend for the State Beta Convention.  Mrs. Anne Bye leads the group assisted by Mrs. Hillary Mayberry.  Fifty-five students made the exciting trip and the community couldn’t be more proud of their students all of their accomplishments.

Junior Lindsey Young was elected State President.  She will be headed to the Nationals.  Her campaign speech received 1^st place.  Congratulations Lindsey!

The students competed in several categories.  The Campaign Skit earned 3^rd place and will compete at Nationals.  The Character Skit won 2^nd place and will also compete at Nationals.  Group Talent earned an impressive 2^nd place and will compete at the national level as well.

Morgan Wilkinson, finalist for SEMO Scholarship was awarded a $500 scholarship. 

They also competed in quiz bowl and other academic competitions.  The Nationals will be held in Richmond, Virginia June 25^th – 28^th.

A big thank you to sponsors Anne Bye and Hillary Mayberry for all their hard work and dedication.  Also, a huge thanks to all the staff, parents, and community for their dedication of their time to help the Bloomfield students.  They look forward to competing at the Nationals.

Cape Girardeau, Missouri - A Dexter High School student has been awarded a scholarship to attend Southeast Missouri State University for the 2014-2015 academic year.

Jacob Mier of Dexter, has been awarded the Governor's Scholarship. Mier is the son of Kenny and Karen Mier of Dexter, and will be a 2014 graduate of Dexter High School.

Poplar Bluff, Missouri - Three Rivers College’s Department of Nursing and Allied Health has extended the application deadline for its day and evening Registered Nurse program in Poplar Bluff to March 17th at 5 p.m.

“Our first concern was the time lost to weather closings this winter and making sure that we gave our applicants time to catch up from that,” said Staci Campbell, Chair of the Department of Nursing and Allied Health. “This is also our first application cycle with our increased prerequisites, and we wanted to allow students to complete their pre-requisite courses of Intermediate Algebra and Introductory Chemistry in the summer 2014 session.”

Applicants for the Nursing programs must be enrolled in or have passed MATH 103 or 153, have completed or be enrolled in CHEM 111, take the NLN-PAX-RN pre-entrance exam and achieve a minimum score of 105, and have a minimum 2.5 GPA across all college credit hours completed to be eligible for admission into the programs.

Campbell advises that all admissions materials, including official copies of transcripts from high school and other colleges, must be received by the March 17 deadline. Application forms for the RN program can be found online by going to trcc.edu/admissions and clicking on “Applications.” Prospective students must also complete a free Three Rivers application. Dexter, Missouri- DHS athlete Trevor Waldner returned to Dexter with a State Championship Title in wrestling and was honored in his cadet teaching class.  Mrs. Shannon Putnam's first grade class cheered from their classroom as Trevor took the mat in Columbia.  She incorporated a little math into the lesson plan as well teaching the students counting as he racked up his score against his opponent.


While Trevor was training he couldn't eat many of his favorite foods, so the class decided to treat him to a pizza and chicken Alfredo party.  Trevor brought his medal to school and the students got a chance to pass it around and look at it.  A photo gallery is available on our Facebook page.
