
Columbia, MO - Dexter senior Travis Waldner (50-0) pinned Zane Cotten of Seneca, Missouri in 3 minutes, 38 seconds to advance to the 170 lb State Championship in Columbia on Saturday.
The MSHSAA Class 2 Wrestling Championship is a dream of Waldner's and he is about to experience the best times of his wrestling career!
Waldner will face Hayden Burks, of Bolivar, in the championship bout. Burks pinned Gaven Gray-Walker, of Maryville, in 2:58 in the other semifinal.
Championship matches in all classes will start at 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
Wyatt Parker (15-10) reached the third round of wrestlebacks however Brecken Gates, of Cameron, pinned him in 2:23. He was just one win away from earning an all-state medal.

Columbia, MO - Dexter senior Travis Waldner has a dream and he is one step closer to a state wrestling championship. Waldner who has a perfect 49-0 record beat Blake Daher (47-3) of Buffalo by decision 4-3 in the MSHSAA State Wrestling quarterfinals in Columbia.
He will now face Zane Cotten of Seneca in a semifinal match on Friday evening. Cotten (42-5) defeated Adrian Whitehead of Oak Grove by decision 5-3 in the quarterfinals.
Wyatt Parker (15-9) beat Zane Palmer of Odessa in the consolation bracket by decision 3-1 in the second round of wrestlebacks. He too will wrestle on Friday evening against Brecken Gates of Cameron. A win would guarantee him an all-state medal.
Mason Keena (33-8) and Eric Hamon (26-21) have ended their season in the second round of wrestlebacks.
Brayan Juarez of Mexico beat Harmon by fall in 2:17 and Charos Sutton of Winfield beat Keena by fall in 3:43.

St. Clair, MO - Mason Keena (145 lbs) and Travis Waldner (170 lbs) won MSHSAA Class 2, District Championships on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at St. Clair High School. Nine Bearcats qualified for the MSHSAA State Wrestling Meet to be held in Columbia, Missouri.
Wyatt Parker (132 lbs) and Alex Townsend (160 lbs) were District runners-up. Caleb Coons (195 lbs), Eric Harmon (113 lbs) and Bryston Pembrton (120 lbs) earned third place. Parker Vanslyke (182 lbs) and Diego McCormick (106 lbs) finished fourth.

Travis Waldner is the son of Bob Waldner and Kim Waldner.
He is a member of the Bearcat Wrestling team and is a four-year letterman.
His future plans are to enlist in the United States Army.
His most memorable moment at DHS is his junior year at SEMO Wrestling Conference when he got snowed in and had to stay another night at the hotel.
