Dexter Golf Team Has BIG Expectations This Season

Dexter, Missouri - The Dexter High School golf team has big expectations in the 2019 spring season.

The Bearcats will return four of their five top athletes from last year: senior Jake Harris, juniors Spencer Warren and Matt Agey, an sophomore Ryan Collier.

Three newcomers to complete the varsity roster are junior Luke Becker, and freshmen Dylan Sitze and Cy Worley.

A total of 16 players came out for golf this spring including ten freshmen.

Spencer Warren advanced to the Class 3 State Tournament in 2018 where he tied for 42nd place with a two day total of 163.

“We are looking forward to the season! We will return our #1, and #2 players Spencer Warren and Ryan Collier.," state head golf coach Eric Sitze.  "We will also return Jake Harris and Matt Agey who have Varsity experience”

“But I think what will make this a successful season is this year’s depth. We will be adding two talented freshmen Cy Worley and Dylan Sitze along with a baseball transfer Luke Becker. All three have put in a lot of good time this past summer and fall to make our team really deep.. our depth this year reminds me of some of my better teams in the past.”

“I’m excited and have liked what I have seen so far in practice these last two weeks! The guys are working hard the focus is good.. it’s just fun to watch.”

Competing in Class 3, District 1 are Cape Central, Park Hills, Dexter, Farmington, Fredericktown, North County, Notre Dame, Perryville, Sikeston, and Ste. Genevieve.

The Dexter High School Golf Team will open their season on March 19th with a 4-team match at Kennett against the Indians, Sikeston Bulldogs, and the Caruthersville Tigers.
