“MaKayla has grown into a great tennis player from what I have seen since I started coaching three years ago,” commented head tennis coach Kurt Lovelady. “She has to go against some tough opponents that just make her better. She has a desire to be able to compete with some of the great athletes she gets to see in the #1 position.”
“Kalee has come a long way since she started her tennis journey her freshman year,” continued Lovelady. “She has constantly improved from year to year and has been a great help to us on varsity the past two seasons. She matches well with her teammates in doubles to give whoever she is going against a tough match.”
The Dexter Bearcats improved their record to 9-4 with the victory over the Bluejays. They play Notre Dame in the District Semifinal on Tuesday, September 29th at 4 p.m.
“Notre Dame has had our number twice already this season,” stated Lovelady. “They are well coached and play a lot of tennis on their own in the off season. I believe if we are hitting some good serves, playing smart, and capitalizing on their mistakes we could make today a close match.”

Dexter, Missouri -The ShowMe Times is proud to highlight the outstanding performance of two Dexter Bearcat Football Athletes. Leadership on the athletic field is often a good indicator of the future development of our young students and is a perfect training ground for future leaders.
This week several athletes contributed on the field, and many athletes showed extreme professionalism against their opponent; however only a few players were chosen.
The ShowMe Times is pleased to announce the Players of the Week are for Offense - Mr. Tyler Stevenson, for Defense - Mr. Jason Jarrell, Mr. Tyler Stevenson and Mr. Austin Chesser.Tyler Stevenson not only graded the best on the offensive line helping protect the quarterback, but he had 8 tackles on the defensive side as well. Tyler hardly left the game to rest and played throughout the game to the best of his ability.
"Tyler is a very hard worker and deserves this recognition," commented head football coach Justin Peden. "He is a leader on the offensive and defensive lines and is a great teammate."
Along with Tyler were Jason Jarrell and Austin Chesser who each added 8 tackles a piece. Together they tallied 24 tackles for the Bearcats.
"Jason battled back from injury to be a key player for us on both sides of the ball," continued Peden. "It is definitely good to have him back."
"Austin is a beast in the weight room and can hit like a freight train," Peden said of Chesser's defensive stamina. "If he could stay healthy he would be an even bigger force."
Congratulations to all of these fine young men on their accomplishments.
The Bearcats will be back in action when they travel to Kennett Friday, September 25, 2015. Game time 7:00 p.m.
