Dexter, Missouri – The DHS Boys Basketball Team opens their season on Tuesday, December 3rd against the Bluejays in Charleston under Head Coach Rob Nichols and Asst. Coach Shawn Guethle. Game time is 6:00 p.m.
D.J. Dowdy and Nick Noble are the only two returning starters for the Bearcats who played most of last season without injuries. Several of the basketball players sustained injuries during football season or during basketball season and were unable to play all year. Hopefully this year the injury bug will not bite the Bearcats and they will have a great season!
Dowdy #11, a 5’10” senior guard should have a great season ahead. He did well as a junior and just earned an All-Conference spot in football. Noble #4 who is also 5’10” and plays the position of guard will be joined by 5’10” senior guard Myles Urhahn #10 and 5’11 senior guard Cody Neldon #34.
Also playing for the Bearcats will be #3 Blake Horton, 5’10” junior guard, #24 Ethan Flowers, 5’8” junior guard, #32 Chandler Young, 6’1” sophomore forward, #22 Austin Chesser 5’10” sophomore guard, #5 Noah Kronk, 6’ junior forward, #12 Peyton Pollock, 6’1” junior forward/guard, #21 Jacob Pedigo, 5’10” sophomore guard, and #33 Cole Renken, 6’3” sophomore forward.
The Bearcats will be competing against some of the top teams in the SCAA Conference and playing several SEMO Conference teams before hosting the SCAA Tournament in January.
Dexter will host their first home game on Friday, December 5th at 6:00 p.m. against the Sikeston Bulldogs with the JV playing first followed by the varsity. Please come out and cheer for your favorite Bearcat and support these awesome boys as they play hard and fast on the court!

St. Louis, Missouri – The Dexter Lady ‘Cats traveled to St. Joseph’s Academy in St. Louis on Saturday and defeated the Angels 62 – 53. It was a nail biter of a first quarter ending with a 12 – 12 tie, but the Angels jumped to a half-time lead scoring 23 points in the 2nd quarter.
The Angels are ranked #3 in the pre-season Class 5 state rankings led the Bearcats 35 – 22 at halftime. Dexter is ranked #2 in the Class 4 state rankings rocked the house in the 3rd quarter shooting well, scoring 18 points and eliminating all but two of their turnovers. The Bearcats finally took the lead 48-47 with just under 6 minutes remaining in the 4th quarter.
There was no stopping the girls and they wanted this victory! Alison Jarrell #12 led the Dexter in scoring with 17 points including five 3-pointers. Paige Patterson #22 tallied 15 points including 7 free throws. Hannah Noe #10 tallied 12 points including one 3-pointer. MaKayla Waldner #30 and Ericka Cobb #15 each recorded 8 points for the Bearcats.
The Lady ‘Cats will be back in action Monday, December 2nd playing in the eight team Farmington Invitation Varsity Basketball Tournament. Dexter is the top seed and will begin play with the eighth seeded Roosevelt High School at 6:00 p.m. #4 Farmington will play #5 Jackson at 7:30 p.m.
The winners of those two games will play on Friday, December 6th at 6:00 p.m. The Championship game will be Saturday, December 7th at 6:30 p.m. Go Bearcats!

Dexter, Missouri - The JV Lady 'Cats are ready for another exciting year. Experienced players returning are Ashlyn Werneck and Karaline Keirsey who are the only sophomores.
They will travel with the varsity team to St. Joseph's Academy in St. Louis on Saturday, November 30th to compete against the Angels.
Seven freshman will be on the team. Guards are Cidney Gathings 5'6", Emily Mouser 5'5", Sydney Rogers 5'4" and Olivia Sitzes 5'2". Forwards are Hayley Hare 5'5", Cheyenne Mosby 5'4" and Harley Allen 5'9". Ashlyn Werneck will be playing as center for the JV Bearcats.
Game time is 1:30 p.m.

Dexter, Missouri - On Saturday, November 30th, the Dexter Lady 'Cats Basketball Team will travel to St. Joseph's Academy, a college preparatory high school sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in St. Louis to begin their 2013 - 2014 season. With four seniors returning to the court their are great expectations that the girls will repeat their winning season from last year.
Dexter ended their season with a 26 - 5 record placing 4th at the Class 4 Championship games in Columbia. Something they should be very proud to have accomplished. They are the reining District Champs and they also won the Paragould, Arkansas Tournament and Lady Royals Classic last year.
"We look good coming into this year," stated Dexter's head coach Chad Allen. "We have a tough schedule, playing on the road the first 14 games."
There are no juniors on the rosters. Six sophomores and four seniors complete the varsity team according to the press released distributed at the Media Day hosted by the Dexter High School.
Varsity Girls Basketball Roster:

Dexter will host their first home game on January 13, 2014 when the Kennett Lady Indians travel to the Bearcat Event Center. The Lady 'Cats will compete in the Farmington Tournament are the top seed. They play #8 seed Roosevelt High School on December 2nd at 6:00 p.m.
The McDonald's Shootout in Paragould, Arkansas will be held December 12th - 14th with the championship game to be held on the 14th at 4:30 p.m. Brackets will be posted in a later article closer to the tournament.
"The girls definitely want to go back to the state championships," commented Allen. Dexter wont the district title against Notre Dame then beat North County in state sectional play and defeated Rosati-Kain in the state quarterfinals to advance to the final four. "It was a great experience for them."

Jackson, Missouri – The Bearcats were on the road last night traveling to Jackson. The 7th grade T.S. Hill Middle School boys basketball team is having a great season improving their record to 11 – 0. They beat the Jackson Indians by a score of 43 – 34. Way to go Bearcats!
Braxton Foster led the Bearcats with 14 points. Seth Rogers tallied 12 more along with Nate Gargas who scored 11 and Joe Rice who added 6 more points.
Seth Rogers scored the only trey for Dexter.

Unfortunately the 8th grade boys team lost to the Indians by a score of 42 – 30 dropping their record to 9 – 3.
Gabe Jackson led the Bearcats with 11 points along with Kole Kelley who tallied 8 points, Nick Trout who had 7 points and Ben Sindle who added 4 more.
