Larry Dale Burris of Dexter, son of the late Jewel Warner and Grace Lee Maddox Burris, was born in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on May 7, 1948, and passed away at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on may 29, 2017, at the age of 69 years and 22 days.
Larry had lived in Bates City, Missouri and worked in Kansas City, Missouri where he moved after receiving Masters Degrees in Mathematics and Physics from Southeast Missouri State University.
Larry worked for the Kansas City Times until his retirement.
He moved to Dexter to help with the care of his mother until her death. As his last act of kindness Larry donated his body for transplant and research.
Surviving are his daughter, Desiree Hill of Kansas City, Missouri, three brothers Darrell Burris of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Eddie Burris of South St. Louis, County and Mike Burris of Dexter, Missouri; two sisters, Patricia Ellis of Dexter, Missouri and Joanna Wyatt of Cape Girardeau, Missouri. A very special great-niece Alise Howell whom he Loved very much. Other relatives and many friends also survive.
He was preceded in death by one brother; Gary Burris.

David Edward Hunsaker, the son of the late Rev. John David Hunsaker and Mildred Irene Hunsaker, was born in Dexter, Missouri on the 19th of June, 1954 and entered eternal life in his home, surrounded by family, on the 29th of May, 2017 at the age of 62 years 11 months and 10 days.
David had lived in the Dexter and Bloomfield communities all his life.
He was an aircraft mechanic for the United States Air Force from July of 1972 to May of 1974. He was employed by Arvin Automotive for twenty-four and one half years as a welder and millwright.
He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and outdoorsman. He was an artist who enjoyed carving, painting, and playing the dulcimer. He was a history enthusiast, storyteller, and blacksmith who loved attending black powder rendezvous. He was truly a Jack-of-all-Trades who loved his grandchildren dearly.
On the 2nd of January, 1976, he was united in marriage to Patty Eakes and to this union two children were born.
Surviving are his wife, Patty Hunsaker of Avert, Missouri; one son, Benjamin Hunsaker (Dusty Erickson) of Raytown, Missouri; one daughter, Olivia Price (Matthew Price) of Ellsinore, Missouri; five grandchildren Abigail, Elias, Gideon, Moriah, and Ezra Price; two sisters Joyce Williams (Ralph) of Campbell, Missouri and Janice Williamson (Mike) of Sedgwick, Kansas; many nieces and nephews; and other family and friends who mourn his passing. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Barbara Cahow, and nephew John Cahow.
Friends may call at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter after 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, the 1st day of June.
Funeral services will be held Friday the 2nd of June at 11:00 a.m. at the Watkins and Sons Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Steve Tippen and Rev. Rick Roberts officiating.
Internment will be at the Dexter City Cemetery.

Bessie Evelyn Bridges of Puxico, daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin and Clara Chasteen Hill, was born February 22, 1927, in Bloomfield, Missouri and passed away at the Oakdale Care Center in Poplar Bluff on May 29, 2017, at the age of 90 years, 3 months and 7 days.
She had lived in Southeast Missouri all of her life and in Puxico for many years. She was a member of the Corinth General Baptist Church near Puxico and enjoyed being outdoors and her flowers.
On September 21, 1945, she married Vernon Edward Bridges. He preceded her in death on March 3, 1987.
Surviving are one daughter & husband, Donna & Harold Bailey of St. Charles; three sons & wives, Mike Bridges of Poplar Bluff, Kent & Nancy Bridges of Puxico, Bruce & Sheila Bridges of Evansville, Indiana, seven grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. Other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death one brother, Bill Hill and one sister, Josephine Lee.
Friends may call on Friday, June 2, 2017, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, services will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Jimmy Clark of Puxico officiating.

Born May 4, 1922, at Parma, Missouri to William Franklin Smee and Phoebe Gibbs.
He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Dexter, Missouri.
Married October 5, 1939, to Elva Gaines at Bloomfield, Missouri, who predeceased after 72 years on December 30, 2011.
Served in U.S. Navy from 1-27-45 until discharge 4-2-46.
He was a former co-owner with his wife, Elva, of George’s Freeze Queen in Bernie, MO. and Grandpa’s Barbeque in Dexter, MO.
Four children born of marriage: Steve and Mary Smee of Calvert City, Kentucky, Stanley and Lois Smee of Jackson, Missouri, Sharon and Rondell Smiley of Bernie, Missouri, and Gary and Linda Smee of Mountain City, Texas.
He is also survived by 9 Grandchildren, 26 Great Grandchildren, and two Great, Great Grandchildren. One grandchild predeceased.
Along with parents he was preceded in death by four sisters: Goldie Stinson, Annie Altom, Molly Black, and Hazel Rennie.
Friends may call at the Rainey Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Tuesday May 30, 2017 from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM. Funeral services will be then conducted at 1:00 PM in the Rainey Mathis

Odessa Jones, age 96, passed away on May 24, 2017, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, MO.
Born April 3, 1921, in Hartman, AR., to the late James and Rosetta Hale Miller.
On December 7, 1940 in Benton, MO., she married Ernie Jones, who preceded her in death on March 15, 2005.
Survivors include: three sons and three daughters-in-law, Albert and Jo Jones of West Plains, MO., David and Theresa Jones of Morley, MO., and Brian and Teresa Jones of Surgionsville, TN.; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Peggy and Don Davis of Dexter,MO., and Linda and James Rhein of Mountain Home, AR.; 18 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: four brothers, three sister and one son, Larry Jones.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 26, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, in Sikeston, MO.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, MO., with Bro. David Thompson pastor of Morley First Baptist Church in Morley, MO., officiating.
Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston, MO.
