In Memory of George Franklin Smee

Born May 4, 1922, at Parma, Missouri to William Franklin Smee and Phoebe Gibbs.

He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Dexter, Missouri.

Married October 5, 1939, to Elva Gaines at Bloomfield, Missouri, who predeceased after 72 years on December 30, 2011.

Served in U.S. Navy from 1-27-45 until discharge 4-2-46.

He was a former co-owner with his wife, Elva, of George’s Freeze Queen in Bernie, MO.  and Grandpa’s Barbeque in Dexter, MO.

Four children born of marriage: Steve and Mary Smee of Calvert City, Kentucky, Stanley and Lois Smee of Jackson, Missouri, Sharon and Rondell Smiley of Bernie, Missouri, and Gary and Linda Smee of Mountain City, Texas.

He is also survived by 9 Grandchildren, 26 Great Grandchildren, and two Great, Great Grandchildren. One grandchild predeceased.

Along with parents he was preceded in death by four sisters: Goldie Stinson, Annie Altom, Molly Black, and Hazel Rennie.

Friends may call at the Rainey Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Tuesday May 30, 2017 from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM.  Funeral services will be then conducted at 1:00 PM in the Rainey Mathis

Funeral Chapel with Rev. Lonny Mittag officiating. Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.

In lieu of flowers donations to Friendship Baptist Church of Dexter, MO. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
