Charlene Middleton, daughter of the late Charles Temples and Mary Ann “Mollie” McClard Temples, was born on February 27, 1919 in Dexter and passed away on August 19, 2013 at her residence in Dexter at the age of 94 years.
Mrs. Middleton was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Dexter and had worked as a seamstress at Elder Manufacturing Company in Dexter.
On September 6, 1936, she was united in marriage to Willis Edward Middleton in Dexter. Mr. Middleton preceded her in death on March 12, 2003.
She is survived by one daughter, Ann M. Stroder of Dexter; one sister, Evelyn Hunt of Dexter; by two grandchildren, Todd Stroder and Blake Alan Stroder; by two great-grandchildren, Josh Stroder and Blake Ryan Stroder; and by several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Sam Temples, Tom Temples, Fred Temples and Ed Temples; and by five sisters, Ruth Corlies, Julia Ivester, Gladys Spore, Addie Thieke and Naomi Miller.
Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Don Kennedy officiating.
Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
Georgia M. Simpson, daughter of the late Ray and Ethel Wimbeley Wood, was born in Jefferson, Texas on October 19, 1930, and passed away at her home near Puxico, Missouri on August 17, 2013, at the age of 82 years, 9 months and 29 days.
She had lived in Texas until moving to the Puxico area in 1958. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Puxico, had been a home maker and worked on the farm with her husband. She enjoyed her flowers and watching the hummingbirds.
On June 21, 1958, she was married to Harold Simpson in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
Surviving are her husband, Harold Simpson of Puxico, Missouri; one son and fiance', Kenneth Simpson and Cathy Hutcheson of Farmington, Missouri; two granddaughters and spouse, Katie Simpson of Farmington, Heather & Donnie Redmond of Coffman, Missouri; one brother, Bennie Ray Wood of Harlingen, Texas; one sister, Sharon Butler of Maumelle, Arkansas. Nieces, nephews, other family and friends also survive.
Visitation will be held on Monday August 19, 2013, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday August 20, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at the Watkins and Sons Chapel in Puxico, Missouri with the Rev. Tim Schultz of Wappapello, Missouri officiating.
Interment will follow in the Puxico Cemetery in Puxico, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico in charge of arrangements.

Marguerite R. Burke, daughter of the late William B. Layton and Elsie Tuttle Layton, was born on April 23, 1929 in East Prairie, Missouri and passed away on August 19, 2013 at Golden Living Center in Dexter at the age of 84 years.
Mrs. Burke was affiliated with the First Church of the Nazarene of Dexter and the Second General Baptist Church of Dexter, had worked as a sales clerk at Lois’ Dress Shop, formerly Nina’s Dress Shop, in Dexter for thirty years and was a resident of Dexter.
On July 23, 1946, she was united in marriage to James C. Burke in Dexter, Missouri. Mr. Burke preceded her in death on November 1, 1993.
She is survived by one son, James W. Burke of Jackson, Missouri; by one daughter, Sharon M. Trammell of Dexter, Missouri; by one brother, Jerry D. Layton of Dexter; by one sister, Francis Russell of Crystal River, Florida; and by three grandchildren, Travis L. Burke, Brian Burke and Jared Burke.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Fred Layton, Bill Layton and Harold “Bud” Layton.

Grover “Gene” Myers, son of the late Grover Ecord Myers and Mary Ellen Snider Myers was born on January 29, 1935 in Vinson, Missouri and passed away on August 15, 2013 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri at the age of 78.
Mr. Myers volunteered from 1956-1958 in Vietnam with the International Volunteer Service, he was an Educator and Principal in the Dexter Senior High School, a member of the Dexter Rotary and Optimist clubs, the Director of Admissions at McPherson College, a Principal at Poplar Bluff High School, Director of Special Services for Poplar Bluff High School and was a member and Sunday school teacher at the Broadwater Church of the Brethren. He was a former resident of Dexter currently living in Wappapello.
On December 22, 1963 he was united in marriage to Lurlyne Hardy in Dexter. Mrs. Myers survives of their residence in Wappapello.
Besides his wife he is survived by two sons, John Thomas Myers of Marion, Arkansas and James Riley Myers of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; by one daughter and son-in-law, Libby and husband Jeff Gall of West Plains, Missouri and by five grandchildren, Mary Katherine Myers, Ian Thomas Myers, Dylan Ray Myers, Lane Eugene Gall and Luke Eli Gall.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, John Albert Myers.
A memorial service will be conducted on Monday, August 19, 2013 at 6:00 P.M. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Brother Harold Gass and Marie Petty Froman officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to the Broadwater Church of the Brethren and the McPherson College , envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
William Avery Stobaugh, son of the late George Washington and Ethel Wilma Harwood Stobaugh, was born in Center Ridge, Arkansas on October 4, 1918, and passed away at the Southeast Health Center of Stoddard County in Dexter on August 11, 2013, at the age of 94 years, 10 months and 8 days.
He had lived in Arkansas before moving to Missouri in 1946. He was a retired farmer and was a member of the Church of Christ in Matthews, Missouri.
On January 4, 1936, he was married to Martha Elizabeth Ethridge in Center Ridge, Arkansas. She preceded him in death on July 26, 2012.
Surviving are five daughters, Glenda Barber of Dexter, Missouri, Margaret Weaver of Beaumont, Texas, Kathy Jones of Bloomfield, Missouri, Jeannine McCoy of Lubbock, Texas, and Jan Powell of St. Claire, Missouri; 17 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and expecting two more; one sister, Peggy Holyfield of Columbus, Mississippi. Other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Rebecca Baldwin; one son, William Charles Stobaugh; three sisters, Mildred Baskins, Margie Stokes and Mary Kennard; two brothers, Bob Stobaugh and Lyndon Stobaugh; and one granddaughter; Sara Leija.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 14, 2013, after 4:30 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.
