Karen Lynn Stephens

Karen Lynn Stephens, 50, of Advance, Missouri, died June 12, 2012, at her home. She was born March 23, 1962, in Chaffee,  the daughter of Edsel and Marie Tally Cooper.

Karen owned and operated Annie-Em's in downtown Cape Girardeau. She had been a teacher and principal for 18 years with the Bell City School District. She graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a Specialist Degree in Education. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dexter.

Karen and Clint Stephens were united in marriage on July 16, 1983, in Bell City, and he survives.

Other survivors include her parents, Edsel and Marie Cooper of Advance; two daughters, Emilie Stephens and Annie Stephens, both of Advance; and two brothers, Alan Cooper and Michael Cooper, both of Bloomfield.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 14, 2012, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Home Chapel in Advance.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 15, 2012, at 11 a.m. in the Morgan Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Bell City.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the Stoddard County Children's Home or the Cape Girardeau Humane Society.

Bobby Gene Dennis

Bobby Gene Dennis, son of the late Mable Fisher Dennis Seeker and Fred Bradford Dennis was born on April 6, 1933 at Williamsville, Missouri and departed this life in the Missouri Veteran’s Home at Cape Girardeau on June 11, 2012 at the age of 79.

Mr. Dennis was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Bloomfield, a former welder/pipefitter with Little Rock Union Hall #155, a veteran of the United States Air Force, a member of the Poplar Bluff Masonic Lodge #209, Bloomfield Chapter Order of Eastern Star #385 and a resident of Bloomfield.

He was united in marriage to Pansy Rogers on April 23, 1976 at Malden.  Mrs. Dennis survives of the home in Bloomfield.

Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Richie Dennis of Poplar Bluff: by one daughter, Rhonda McGowen of Poplar Bluff: by one step-son, Dennis Rogers of Centralia, Illinois: by one step-daughter, Charlotte Haggard of Kansas City: by one sister: Connie Kesler, of Milltown, Indiana, and by six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Robbie Dennis.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m., Wednesday, June 13, 2012.  Funeral services will then be conducted at 1 p.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Kevin Eskew officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield with Full Military Honors.

Robert “Bo” Aslin, Jr.

Robert “Bo” Aslin, Jr., son of Robert “Bobby”, Sr. and Donna Duncan Aslin, was born on March 11, 1983, in Dexter, Missouri and passed away in Illinois, on June 9, 2012, at the age of 29 .

Bo had lived in Bloomfield most of his life, having lived a short time in Texas and Cape Girardeau. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Bloomfield. He worked at Ag Distributors in Sikeston. Bo loved to play his quitar and enjoyed a variety of music. He spent many hours playing music with his friends. Another great passion was cooking and bar-b-queing and spent many times cooking for his family.

Surviving are his daughter, the love of his life, Sophie Lynn Aslin of Highland, Illinois; parents, Robert “Bobby”, Sr. & Donna Aslin of Bloomfield and mother, Anita C. Whitworth Moore of Cape Girardeau; one brother, Nathan Aslin of Bloomfield; one half-brother, Richard Dale Ozment, Jr. of Cape Girardeau; one half-sister, Nitosha C. Ozment of Jackson; his paternal grandfather, Gorty L. Aslin of Bloomfield, his maternal grandmother, Mary Duncan of Bloomfield. Other relatives and many friends also survive. He was preceded in death by paternal grandmother, Betty Aslin and maternal grandfather, Bill Duncan.

Friends may visit after 11 a.m., Tuesday June 12, 2012, at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday June 12, 2012 at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Ron Dunivan of Monett, Arkansas officiating. Interment will be in the Walker Cemetery in Bloomfield with Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Children’s Miracle Network or St. Jude’s Hospital.

Leeon Sugg, son of the late Daniel Lee and Gladys Mae Marlin Sugg, was born in Sikeston, Missouri on April 16, 1945, and passed away at his home in Dexter on June 7, 2012, at the age of 67.

He lived in the Sikeston before moving to Dexter three years ago. He and his wife Sandra served as foster parents to many children over 20 years. He owned and operated his own Auto Body Repair shop for more than 30 years. He was a member of the Morehouse Assembly of God Church.

On October 8, 1986, he was married to Sandra Carol Newell in Sikeston, Missouri.

Surviving are his wife, Sandra Sugg of Dexter; two sons,  Doye Smith, and Gabriel Sugg of Dexter; three daughters Brenda Salis of Dayton, Ohio; Michelle Smith and Misty Hare both of Dexter; by five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; by two sisters Tressie Goetz of Clarvsville, In. and Verblene Lovelace of Pine Bluff, Ark. Other family and friends also survive.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy Sugg and JR Sugg.

Visitation will be held after 5 p.m., Sunday, June 10, 2012,  Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 11, 2012, at Assembly of God Church in Morehouse, with the Rev. Larry Portwood of Morehouse, and the Rev. Ira Sandefer of Sikeston, officiating.

Interment will be in the Dexter Cemetery in Dexter,  with Watkins and Sons Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.

Frank Moore

Frank Moore, son of the late James William Moore and Kate Adell Sprinkle Moore was born on August 2, 1946 at Pyletown, Missouri and departed this life in the Landmark Hospital at Cape Girardeau on June 1, 2012 at the age of 65.

Mr. Moore was a former truck driver for Safety Klean.

He was first united in marriage to Judy Patterson on June 25, 1966 at Dexter.  She preceded him in death on September 4, 2007.  He was then married to Charlotte Parris on February 14, 2008 Dyer County, Tennessee.  She survives.

Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Monica Miller of League City, Texas: by two grandsons, Joshua Miller and Kaleb Miller: by one step-son, Aaron Parris of Dexter: by two step-daughters, Vickie Evans of Bloomfield and Crystal Tucker of Dexter: by three brothers and their wives, William Clifford and Berta Moore of Dexter, Jimmie Dale and Betty Moore of Dexter and Johnny Ray and Carol Moore of Cabot, Ark.: by one sister and her husband, Helen Janette and Dale Jennings of Arnold: by seven step-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Emmer Jane Bledsoe and Carrie Belle Moore.

Friends may call from 9:30 un 11 a.m., Monday, June 5, 2012 at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.  Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Monday, June 5, 2012 in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Pastor Shirley McRoy and Rev. John Adams officiating. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
