James Henry Ash, son of the late Charles Henry and Mary Hatton Ash, was born in Shake Ray, Missouri on June 20, 1939, and passed away at the Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter, Missouri on July 11, 2011, at the age of 72 years and 21 days.

He had lived in Michigan until moving to Dexter, Missouri 52 years ago.

Surviving are one son, Sammy Ash of Leslie, Missouri; three daughters, Tina Webster of St. Louis, Missouri, Lilla Irwin of Oklahoma, Beth Holtmeter of Union, Missouri; fifteen grandchildren; four sisters, Phyllis Hodge of Advance, Missouri, Evelyn Null of Puxico, Missouri, Lynn Cannon of Cottage Hills, Illinois, and Flora Cooley of Pace, Florida. Other relatives and many friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one brother, Stephen Ash and his companion for over 20 years, Pauline Langston.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 14, 2011, from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m., at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.

Funeral Service will be held at 12 p.m., Thursday, July 14, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. Doyle Mitchell of Puxico, Missouri officiating.

Interment will be in the Dexter Cemetery in Dexter, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.

Charles H. Long, son of the late Ralph Long and Bertha Penniger Long was born on August 29, 1922 near Bloomfield, Missouri and departed this life in the Cypress Point Skilled Nursing Center in Dexter on July 10, 2011 at the age of 88 years.

Mr. Long was a self-employed farmer for many years, retired after 23 years from the United States Post Office as a mail carrier in Bloomfield, Missouri; Veteran of the United States Army, member of the First General Baptist Church in Bloomfield, and a resident of Dexter, Missouri.

On August 20, 1944 he was united in marriage to Geraldine B. Wilson in Piggott, Arkansas. Mrs. Long survives of the home in Dexter.

Besides his wife, other survivors include two sons, Charles R. Long and Randy A. Long of Dexter; by three daughters, Helen Lang of Dexter, Pamela Walls of Sedgewickville, Missouri, and Rebecca Long of Springfield, Illinois; by one daughter from a previous marriage Carol McRoy of Dexter; one sister, Mary Stewart of Bloomfield, Missouri; also by seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, D.J. Long and Bobby Long.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5 until 8 p.m., Tuesday July 12, 2011. Visitation will also be held on Wednesday July 13, 2011 from 10 a.m. until 12 noon in the First General Baptist Church in Bloomfield, Missouri. Funeral services will then be conducted at 2 p.m., Wednesday July 13, 2011 in the First General Baptist Church in Bloomfield, with Rev. Kevin Eskew of officiating. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.

Barbara Evelyn (Barker) Davis left this life on July 10, 2011. She was born June 25, 1929, the first child of Eugene Clarence and Louise Corlies Barker. She was raised in Stoddard County, Missouri.

On July 12, 1954, Barbara married James Frank Davis who preceded her in death on September 29, 1994.

In 1958, she moved with her husband and family to Michigan and lived there until after the death of her husband. She retired from the Michigan Department of Public Health.

She leaves to mourn her her four children: Ronald James Davis of Sebring, Florida; Daniel Severy Davis and his wife Jacqueline of Las Vegas, Nevada; Susan Carole Davis of Fairbanks, Alaska; and William John Davis and his wife Patricia of Las Vegas, Nevada. She leaves five grandchildren: R. Christopher Davis of Holt, Michigan; Kelly Ann Davis of Las Vegas, Nevada; Daniel J. Davis of Las Vegas, Nevada; William H. Davis of Las Vegas, Nevada and Adriana Ferrando of Las Vegas, Nevada; and five great grandchildren: Emma Davis, Calvin Davis, Logan Davis, Lilly Davis and Madison Davis.

She also leaves two sisters: Revalee Minton of Dexter, Missouri and Marilyn Irvin of O'Fallon, Missouri.

Barbara was an active member of the Michigan State Retirees Association for many years and was a long-standing member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

There will be no visitation. A small service will be held at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield at 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 13, 2011

Robert L. Stuart, son of the late Walter and Roosevelt McGowen Stuart, was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas, on December 13, 1924, and passed away at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri on July 9, 2011, at the age of 86 years, 6 months and 26 days.

He had lived in Dudley, Missouri all his life. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Dexter. He was a member of the VFW Post in Puxico Mo. He worked for the US Postal Service for over 35 years in Dudley. He had served in the Navy in the South Pacific during WWII.

On May 1, 1948, he was married to Audrey Caldwell in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. She preceded him in death on February 7, 1999.

Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Evelyn & Richard Long of Dudley, Missouri; two grandchildren and spouses, Richie & Emily Long of Glencoe, Alabama, Denise & Tim Adams of Cordova, Tennessee; two great grandchildren, Braxton Long of Glencoe, Alabama and Ian Adams of Cordova, Tennessee. Other relatives and many friends also survive. He was preceded in death by two brothers Eugene Stuart and Walter Stuart Jr.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 12, 2011, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 13, 2011, at 1 p.m., at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri.

Interment will be in the Dexter Cemetery in Dexter, Missouri with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Missouri in charge of arrangements.

Robert Lee Matt, Sr., son of the late August Johan "Gus" and Pearl Lillian Leezy Matt, was born in Washington Park, Illinois on September 14, 1939, and passed away at his home near Dudley, Missouri on July 8, 2011, at the age of 71 years, 9 months and 24 days.

He had lived in Cahokia, Illinois until moving to the Dudley, Missouri area in 1977. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy. He enjoyed working in the yard, fishing and spending time with his family and friends.

On December 31, 1959, he was married to Linda Sue Radford in St. Louis, Missouri.

Surviving are his wife, Linda Sue Matt of Dudley, Missouri; two sons, Robert "Bobby" Matt, Jr. of Sikeston, Missouri, Mike Matt of Panama City Beach, Florida; two daughters, Christine South of Rock Hill, South Carolina, Lisa Taylor of Bruno, Arkansas; eleven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one brother, Richard Matt of Leesburg, Florida; two sisters, Betty Slagle of Poplar Bluff, Missouri and Shirley McCart of Cahokia, Illinois. Other relatives and many friends also survive. He was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Matt and one sister, Mary Lou Matt.

Visitation will be Sunday, July 10, 2011, from 5 until 8 p.m., at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 11, 2011, at 10 a.m., at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter, Missouri with the Rev. Larry Ward of Fisk, Missouri officiating.
