Bloomfield R-XIV School District Proposes No-Tax Rate Increase Bond Issue to Address Critical Facility Needs Bloomfield, MO – The Bloomfield R-XIV School District is excited to announce a $1.3 million no-tax rate increase bond issue that will appear on the April 8, 2025 ballot. This initiative is a vital step toward addressing pressing infrastructure needs, starting with the construction of a new bus facility and, as funds allow, additional repairs and improvements to existing district facilities. Those improvements include renovations and upgrades to current student restrooms, staff restrooms, and locker rooms.
The current bus facility is in dire condition and falls significantly short of meeting the needs of our school district. Being built in 1948, it has served our district well. However, as you could imagine, the size of a bus in 2025 differs very much from 1948. It lacks adequate space for mechanics to work on the fleet safely and efficiently, leaving them exposed to the elements while performing essential maintenance. Additionally, the facility does not provide protected space for garaging buses, leaving our fleet vulnerable to weather-related wear and tear. Through these facility deficiencies, our fleet consistently passes all required inspections, but as we continue to invest in our resources, building a new bus garage helps our district to continue to grow and expand its infrastructure.
The proposed new bus facility will address these shortcomings by providing:
-
● A safe, weather-protected workspace for mechanics, enabling them to perform maintenance year-round without
exposure to rain, snow, or extreme temperatures.
-
● Adequate space to accommodate the entire fleet, ensuring buses are properly maintained and stored in optimal
conditions.
-
● Improved operational efficiency, which will directly benefit students who rely on timely and reliable transportation
to and from school.
This bond issue represents a fiscally responsible approach to improving critical infrastructure without increasing the tax rate for our community. By approving this measure, voters will allow the district to utilize existing resources effectively while ensuring that our facilities meet modern standards.
The district’s transportation system is a lifeline for many students in our district. A new bus facility is not just an investment in infrastructure—it’s an investment in student safety, operational efficiency, and the future of our schools.
WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT!
The success of this initiative depends on you—the voters of Bloomfield R-XIV. Your support can make a lasting impact on the quality of education and services provided by our district. Let’s work together to ensure that every student in Bloomfield has access to safe and reliable transportation—and that our schools continue to thrive for generations to come. We look forward to having informational meetings to provide additional information for all voters, at a time and location to be determined. Mark your calendars for April 8, 2025, and make your voice heard by voting YES for this important measure.
