In Memory of Edith Kay Dougherty

Edith Kay Dougherty, daughter of the late Bunkie Franklin Canady and Versie Mae Henson Canady, was born on April 13, 1960, in Sikeston, Missouri, and departed this life on December 28, 2024, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, at the age of 64 years.


Mrs. Dougherty was a homemaker, a member of Jesus Name Apostolic United Pentecostal Church in Piedmont, Missouri, and a resident of Mill Spring, Missouri. She enjoyed working puzzles, picking pecans, and taking care of people, she was always helping behind the scenes. She loved working outside and gardening.


On August 26, 2022, in Mill Spring, Missouri, she was united in marriage to William “Bill” Dougherty Sr.  Mr. Dougherty survives of their home in Mill Spring.


Along with her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Tonya Foster and husband Bill of Grandview, Missouri, and Ginger Haws and husband Jamie of Dexter, Missouri; by two brothers, John Canady of Benton, Missouri, and Bobby Canady and wife Tina of Oran, Missouri; by two sisters, Lisa Graviett of Oran, Missouri, and Tammy Belt and husband Tim of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; and by nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.


Other than by her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Carolyn Schott.


Visitation will be held at Dexter First Pentecostal Church in Dexter, Missouri on Thursday, January 2, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Funeral services will then be conducted at Dexter First Pentecostal Church on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. with Bro. Will Dougherty III officiating. Interment will follow in New Morley Cemetery in Morley, Missouri.


Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter is assisting with arrangements.
