
Larry Wayne Brown, son of the late Melvin Riley Brown and Marie Putnam Brown was born on June 9, 1944 in Pontiac, Michigan and departed this life on December 29, 2024 at the Campbell Healthcare and Senior Living Center in Campbell, Missouri at the age of 80.
Mr. Brown was a veteran of the United States Army and National Guard. He had worked for General Motors while he lived in Michigan, when he moved to Missouri he worked as a Bernie police officer and also worked security for Securitas. He was a “Jack of all trades” and enjoyed carpentry. He liked watching the St. Louis Cardinals play baseball with his wife, he enjoyed telling a good story, and also painted cars.
On June 26, 1962, he was united in marriage to Barbara “Sue” Sontag in Pontiac, Michigan. Mrs. Brown preceded him in death on February 25, 2022.
He is survived by his son, Jamey Brown and wife Tina of Dexter, Missouri; by his sister, Betty Dalton of Pontiac, Michigan; by six grandchildren, Christina Orr of Dexter, Amanda Hopkins of Birmingham, Alabama, Laci Eaton, of Dexter, Steve Kirkpatrick, Jason Williams and Trevor Williams of Bernie, Missouri; and by sixteen great-grandchildren, Payton Kirkpatrick, Piper Kirkpatrick, Jase Kirkpatrick, Rylee Eaton, Ryan Eaton, Brynlee Pence, Taylor Williams, Jaelyn Williams, Nicholas Williams, Nolan Williams, Nora Williams, Reese Williams, Zayn Williams, Lynnie Williams, Xander Moore, and Noah Kirkpatrick.
Other than by his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Larry Wayne Brown Jr., by two daughters, Yolanda Kincy, and Carol Marie Williams; by his brother, Bill Brown; by his sister, Bonnie Musgraves; and by his grandson, Ben Kirkpatrick.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie, Missouri. Funeral services will then be conducted on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. in the Mathis Funeral Chapel in Bernie with Pastor Mike Chance officiating. Interment will follow at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri with full military honors.
