
Ora Frances Putney, daughter of the late John Ancil Putney and Lillie Adline James Putney, was born on January 27, 1935, in Parma, Missouri, and departed this life on April 3, 2024, at Memory Lane Skilled Nursing in Dexter, Missouri, at the age of 89 years.
Mrs. Putney had worked as a cook for Ella’s Café and Hickory House in Dexter, Missouri. She has also worked as a seamstress, cook and bus driver in Michigan. She was a member of Gospel Assembly Church in Dexter and a resident of Dexter. She loved taking care of her grandchildren and everybody else.
She is survived by her daughter, LaWanda Durham and husband Larry of Dexter, Missouri; by her son, Ben Propst of Dexter, Missouri; by eight grandchildren, Ashley O’Dell and husband Kyle, Larry D. Durham III, Brandon Propst, John Durham, Sarah Sandage and husband Robert, Alex Propst, Zach Propst, and Catie Propst; by six great-grandchildren; and by numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Other than by her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Martin Darrel Propst; and by sixteen siblings.
Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Saturday, April 6, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. A memorial service will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Doug Sikes officiating. Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery.
