Bernie School Board Meeting Notes from February 12th

Board Notes from the recent Bernie School District Board of Education meeting.


The Board of Education met in regular session Monday night February 12th.


The Board approved Calendar A for the 2024/2025 school year.  


Program evaluations on Co-Curricular Activities, Discipline and A+ were approved.  The A+ Assurance statement was re-adopted thereby allowing Bernie students who qualify to obtain 2 years of tuition at a Community College or Tech school.


The Board approved the financial statement and paying the monthly bills.


During executive session:  


The Board approved Thomas Dinkins, Rebekah Holt, Delaney Lemmon and Dawn Plunkett to the Substitute list.


The Board approved hiring Megan Walker as a 4st Grade Elementary Teacher for the 2024/25 School Year.


The Board extended Tommie Ellenburg’s and Alex Beaird’s Principal Contract through 2025/2026.

2024 Puxico Homecoming Queen and King Announced

The 2024 Puxico High School Homecoming Queen is Lacie Maclin.

Lacie Maclin is a junior and representing the Cheer Team.

She is the daughter of Matt and Sara Maclin.

Lacie is a member of the Volleyball Team, Cheer Team, FCS, FCCLA, and Sr. Beta Club.

Her interests include taking naps, shopping, hanging with Scyler and going to the Mexican Restaurant with Laney.

The 2024 Puxico High School Homecoming King is Trevor Fortner

He is a senior and a member of the varsity Basketball Team.

He is the son of Amanda and Jason Fortner.

Trevor is also a member of the varsity Baseball Team, Future Business Leaders of America and Sr. Beta Club.  

His interests include basketball, Lego's and hanging out with friends and family.

2023 Puxico High School Retiring Homecoming King and Queen Featuring Jera Backus and Cole Barnfield

The Puxico High School held their annual Homecoming Coronation. 

The retiring 2023 Puxico High School Homecoming Queen is Jera Backus.  

Jera is the daughter of Amy and Todd Backus.  

Jera is currently aspiring for a career in Finance.

The 2023 Puxico High School retiring Homecoming King is Cole Barnfield.  Cole is the sone of Tracy and Chris Barnfield.

 Cole is currently attending Southeast Missouri State University - Cape Girardeau and majoring in Cyber Security.

2024 Puxico High School Homecoming

The Puxico High School held their annual Homecoming Coronation. 

The Homecoming "Runner" is Kinley Franklin.  She has the winner's names and presented them to the announcers on stage.

Kinley is the daughter of Katie and Matt Franklin and the granddaughter of Cheryl and Kenny doubling and Lisa and Greg Franklin.

She is 6 years old and in kindergarten.

Her hobbies are dance classes, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

Her future plans are to go to 1st grade and eventually be a veterinary technician like her mom.

2024 Puxico High School Homecoming Candidate Featuring Austin Harbin

The Puxico High School held their annual Homecoming Coronation. 

Austin Harbin is a senior at Puxico High School and is representing the Lady Indians Varsity Basketball Team.

She is the daughter of Jamie Nelson and the late Tim Harbin and the granddaughter of Gig.

She participates in varsity Softball, Student Council, FCCLA, Future Business Leaders of America, and Sr. Beta Club.

Her interests include hanging out with her boyfriend and his family, along with Gig and Morgan.  She also enjoys hanging out with Porter, Benson and Hanna, and stealing Bre's baby.

Escorting Austin is Trevor Fortner, also a senior and a member of the varsity Basketball Team.

He is the son of Amanda and Jason Fortner.

Trevor is also a member of the varsity Baseball Team, Future Business Leaders of America and Sr. Beta Club.  

His interests include basketball, Lego's and hanging out with friends and family.
