In Memory of Opal Louise “Charlee” Allen

Opal Louise “Charlee” Allen was born to the late Miles Allison and Maudie May Fox on August 26, 1945, in Chaonia, Missouri, and departed this life December 28, 2022.

She was preceded in death by her brothers George, Leonard, Austin, Arthur, Frankie, Billy, Chucky, Bobby Jo, and John; and her sisters; Mary, Charlotte, Grace, and Glenda.

She is survived by her soul mate of 26 years, Darrell Slinkard; four children, Wanda, Michael, Cheryl, and Renee; five grandchildren, Samantha, Sarah, Johnna, Dylan, and Jonathan; five great-grandchildren, Landon, Jaden, Allison, Adelin and Wilson; and honorary children Darlene, Jeannie, Michelle, Teddy, Jimmy and Justin; and by countless extended friends and family.

Opal was a woman of insurmountable strength, determination, and dedication. She could do anything that she set her mind to do and enjoyed working outside, planting flowers, walks through the woods, and many other hobbies. Throughout her life she had worked at various jobs and had retired from Nestle-Purina after working there for over twenty years. She was proud of her family and loved them above all else. She had a sense of humor and enjoyed a good party with family and friends. She was selfless, giving and caring to others and putting their needs above her own. She was the best Mom, Grandma, and friend that we could ever hope to have had. We cherish everything that she was, what she has given to us, and the time that we were so blessed to have had with her.

Graveside services will be conducted at Walker Cemetery in Bloomfield on Saturday, December 31, 2022, at 2:00 p.m.

Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter is assisting with arrangements.
