
Verna Ruth Spore, daughter of the late Hazel Foster Jackson and Robert Hill Jackson, was born on October 19, 1928, in Dexter, Missouri, and departed this life on July 23, 2022, at Cypress Point Skilled Nursing Center in Dexter, Missouri, at the age of 93 years.
After graduating from Dexter High School, Ruth moved to Michigan where she worked in the automotive industry. On November 6, 1948, she and Maurice Spore were united in marriage. In late 1951, the moved to Oakland, California. After several years, they returned to Dexter where Ruth worked for Elder Manufacturing. In 1964, Maurice was promoted to general manager for Sears, and they moved to Memphis, Tennessee
While in Memphis, Ruth worked as a production supervisor for RCA and as an administrative assistant for N. Hunt Moore and Associates and Southern Systems, both engineering firms. In 1978, she and Maurice moved back to Dexter where she worked in the packing and shipping department of Elder Manufacturing.
Throughout her career, her greatest joy and sense of accomplishments were being a wife and mother.
Ruth was an active member of New Bethel General Baptist Church where she served as a deacon’s wife, in the care and compassion ministry, and teaching youth. Her kind, loving and caring spirit was evident in everything she did, and she was a mentor to many.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Hazel Jackson, her loving husband, two brothers, Robert and Bryant Jackson, and a sister, Mary Phillips.
She is survived by her son, Everette (Janet) Spore of Gleason, Tennessee, two grandchildren, Jason Spore of McDonough, Georgia, and Natalie Spore of Henderson, Nevada, and many nieces and nephews. Her wit, sense of humor, and storytelling provided a source of entertainment for those who were close to her. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Saturday, July 30, 2022, from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
Funeral services will then be conducted on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Steve Tippen officiating.
Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield on Monday, August 1, 2022, at 11:00 a.m.

Larry Eugene Walpole, son of the late Archie Sanders Walpole and Ivogene Coln Walpole, was born on March 10, 1946, in Kennett, Missouri, and departed this life on July 23, 2022, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, at the age of 76 years.
Mr. Walpole was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving in Vietnam. After leaving the military, he worked for Monarch Seed then he and his wife purchased Walpole’s Auto Parts in Bloomfield, Missouri and worked it together for 18 years. He was a member of the Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce, the VFW, and the American Legion, he was appointed to the Stoddard County Health Department Board of Directors, he was a volunteer fire fighter in Bloomfield, he was on the Bloomfield Police Department auxiliary, and he was a resident of Bloomfield, Missouri. Larry enjoyed coaching baseball and working with the Boy Scouts.
On April 29, 1966, in Bloomfield, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Mary Cowgur. Mrs. Walpole survives of their home in Bloomfield.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children and five grandchildren.
Other than by his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Billy Walpole, by his brother, Archie Walpole, and by his sister, Pamela Walpole.
Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ray Rowland officiating.
Interment will follow in the North Antioch Cemetery in Bloomfield.

Charles “Pinky” Frank, son of the late Granville Frank and Ruby Mays Frank, was born on March 4, 1942, in Dexter, Missouri, and departed this life on July 24, 2022, at his residence in Dexter at the age of 80 years.
Mr. Frank was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving in Vietnam. After returning from Vietnam, he received the Army Commendation Medal for “meritorious achievement”. He was a former employee of Castor Township and Keener Gravel Company. He attended Mt. Gilead Hill Church and had volunteered with the Stoddard County Sheriff’s department working under Ralph Mouser for several years.
On April 30, 1965, in Acorn Ridge, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Carolyn Robinson. Mrs. Frank survives for their home in Dexter.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Cathy Scobey and husband James of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; by two grandchildren, Camden and Cade Scobey; by his brother-in-law, Norman Robinson and wife Laura of Dexter, Missouri; by his sister-in-law, Dorothy Richard and husband Cotton of Dexter, Missouri; and by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Thursday, July 28, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, July 28, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Steve Tippen officiating. Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.

Donna Jean Woodard Poe, daughter of Paul Wayne Woodard Sr. of Dexter, Missouri and Joyce Wanda Layton Hall of Essex, Missouri was born on December 25, 1974, in Dexter, Missouri and departed this life on July 21, 2022, at her residence in Essex, Missouri at the age of 47.
Other than by her parents, she is survived by two brothers, Paul Wayne Woodard Jr. and wife Vicky of Junction City, Kansas and Douglas Leon Graviett and wife Jamie of Dexter, Missouri; by two sisters, Rebecca Gail Kelley of Troy, Missouri and Marsha Diane Woodard of Dexter, Missouri; one step-sister, Tracy Ann Rayburn and husband Brad of Puxico, MO and by many nieces, nephews, “greats”, extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Susan Kay Woodard, her step-dad, Kurtis (Ras) Randall Hall of Essex, Missouri and her beloved dog, Gemma Isabell Poe.
Donna was employed at Wal-Mart in Sikeston, Missouri, in their security department. She was her niece and nephew's biggest cheerleader and loved supporting them in everything that they did!! She had a huge heart and tried to make everyone around her smile with her little jokes and antics. She enjoyed camping, fishing and being outdoors. She was very artistic and loved to paint. But her most favorite thing, due to not being able to bear children, was her dog Gemma, whom she spoiled rotten! She will forever be remembered by her bubbly personality, smile on her face and that hearty laugh that she would belt out and her infamous quotes...” What is really going on??”, “What does that mean?” or “Allegedly...”!!

Dimple McWaters Malloy, daughter of the late William L. and Nora Colston McWaters, was born on November 25, 1936, and departed this life at Mulberry Manor in Dexter, Missouri on July 15, 2022, at the age of eighty-five years.
On April 18, 1953, at Morehouse, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Harold “Quinton” Malloy, Sr. He preceded her in death on November 13, 1994.
Besides her parents and husband, Dimple was preceded in death by her son “Harold” Quinton, Jr.; daughter Treasa; brothers Claud, Bert, Don, W.C., Hershel, Ollie, and Herman; and sisters Audrey, Areda, Mamie, Polly, and Emma.
She is survived by her son, Charles and his wife Lori of Essex, and by many relatives, friends, and colleagues.
Dimple earned her bachelor and master’s degrees from Southeast Missouri State University and taught elementary education for more than twenty-five years in the Winona, Richland, Malden, and Sikeston school systems. She was active in the local and district CTA and MSTA holding offices in both organizations and served as President of the Southeast District Teachers Association.
Soon after retiring from school teaching, Dimple accepted the opportunity to develop a reading program for the inmates at the Southeast Correctional Center in Charleston, Missouri. She taught at the Charleston facility for several years and then transferred to the Eastern Reception, Diagnostic, and Correctional Center in Bonne Terre, Missouri from which she retired after teaching for a couple of years.
Dimple was very active in the ladies’ auxiliaries of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars participating in service projects and providing leadership by holding multiple offices.
Dimple was an avid quilter. She enjoyed growing tomatoes for her family and tending to her red and pink rose bushes. She was a devoted Buick owner who drove countless miles through the years attending professional and organizational meetings and taking family and personal trips.
Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Friday, July 22, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Graveside services will then be conducted at Old Essex Cemetery on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at 10:30 a.m.
