In Memory of Larry T. Tilley

Larry T. Tilley, son of the late John Henry Tilley and Vevie Drye Tilley was born on March 18, 1950, in Sherrill, Arkansas and departed this life on June 24, 2022, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Missouri at the age of 72.

Mr. Tilley was a truck driver and a mechanic. He was a “gear head”, and always had his head under the hood of anything on wheels. He loved stock cars and race cars.

On January 9, 1971, he was united in marriage to Carol Hoss in Idalia, Missouri. Mrs. Tilley survives of their residence in Essex.

Other than by his wife, Carol, he is survived by two sons, Larry Tilley Jr. and wife Brittany of Essex, Missouri, and Ronnie Tilley and wife Carla of Dexter, Missouri; by two brothers, J.W. Tilley of Bloomfield, Missouri and Kenneth Tilley of Van Buren, Missouri; by two sisters, Katherine Hopkins of Bloomfield, Missouri and Gale Bess of Dexter, Missouri; by seven grandchildren, Nickol Fowler and husband Greg, Preston Tilley and wife Aleigha, Jordan Tilley, Teresa Kinders and husband Casey, Hudson Tilley, Parker Tilley and Barrett Tilley; and by two great-grandchildren, Callie Fowler and Leo Tilley.

Other then by his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, David Tilley; by six brothers, Dale Tilley, William Merrick, Carl “Pete” Tilley, Charles “Tinker” Tilley, Robert Tilley and Gerald “Shorty” Tilley; and by four sisters, Maxine Robey, Floy Jean Robey, Lula Jackson and Lenora Bost.

Visitation will be conducted on Monday, June 27, 2022, from Noon until 2:00 p.m. in the Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will then be conducted on Monday, June 27, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in the Mathis Funeral Chapel with Pastor Tim Russell officiating.

Interment will follow at the New Essex Cemetery.

Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter is assisting with arrangements.
