
Dexter, MO - Theresa Reynolds of Reynolds State Farm Agency is Dexter, Missouri celebrated her 30th Anniversary as a State Farm Agent on June 7, 2022. Mayor Jason Banken designated June 7th to be State Farm Day in the city of Dexter in honor of their 100th anniversary.
For 100 years, they have made it their mission to restore lives, help rebuild neighborhoods, invest in communities, and support education and safety initiatives where people live and work. It's what being a good neighbor is all about.
"Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there. It's more than a slogan; it's who we are," stated Reynolds.
Banken signed a proclamation which read, " Whereas State Farm is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2022; and whereas the City of Dexter recognizes the positive impact the company and its agents have on our community as they have been taking care of customers in Missouri since 1925; and whereas State Farm was founded in the United States on the 7th of June in the year 1922 by G.J. Mecherle, a farmer from Merna, IL."
"I call upon the residents of this city to observe this day by demonstrating what being a good neighbor is all about through acts of kindness and making people feel welcome.", Banken proclaimed.

Bloomfield Farmers Market will be held each Tuesday from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. June 7th - August 23rd at the Elderland Restaurant Parking Lot on Highway 25.
Accepting baked goods, flowers, plants, cookies, vegetables, jams and jellies, handmade craft items, fruits, eggs, herbs, small livestock such as chickens, ducks, rabbits and much more.
Tables and tents are NOT provided you must bring your own. If unsure if your item is allowed at market please email amy_haas1@outlook.com

Bloomfield, MO - Around 60 southeast Missouri veterans took part in the annual Spring Veterans Fishing Day held at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield on Friday, May 20, 2022.
This event hasn't been held the last two years due to Covid-19, but Tony Curran, commander of the American Legion Post #59 in Dexter and organizer of the event, made sure it returned this year. They will also host one in the fall.
After a few hours of fishing, each veteran and volunteer were treated to a fish fry with all the trimming, including fries, hushpuppies, pickles, onions, and of course dessert.

The Dexter Tree Board will be selling trees Saturday, May 21st from 8 a.m. - 11 a.m. Weather permitting.
They will be selling in the parking lot of First Midwest Bank, corner of One Mile Road and 819 West Business Highway 60 in Dexter!
Some of the trees available for sale are red maple, crepe myrtle, red apricot, redbud, black olive, tulip poplar, and oak. Come check them out!!!
There might be a surprise visit by Johnny Appleseed!!!

Bernie, MO - The Bernie Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a "Running Into Summer" Color Fun Run at the city park on Saturday, May 21, 2022.
This will be a fun day for the community, complete with lots of music and the Auntie Anne's pretzel truck.
Participants may run/walk/jog around the designated route and will be sprayed and doused with color at various color stations ending with one final color celebration at the finish line.
Early Bird registration is due by May 2nd, but participants may choose same-day entry and not receive a shirt.
Check in begins at 9:00 a.m. and race start time is 10:00 a.m. at the north pavillion in Bernie City Park right off Highway 25.
Ages 13 & up are $25 and ages 12 & under are just $15. If you get registered by May 2nd you will receive a T-shirt.
If you choose to wait until the day of the event it's just $10, but they will not have a shirt available.
