In Memory of Joy Lynn Evans

Joy Lynn Evans, daughter of the late William “Bill” Evans and Patricia “Pat” Davidson Evans, was born on March 11, 1955, and departed this life on October 8, 2021, at NEA Baptist Medical Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas, at the age of 66 years

She is survived by three nephews, Nathaniel Gray of Conway, Arkansas, Jeffrey Gray of Harrisburg, Arkansas, and Derrick Gray of Jonesboro, Arkansas.

Other than by her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Pam Gray.

Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Chalk Bluff Cemetery in Dexter.

Memorials may be made to the Stoddard County ARC, PO Box 444, Dexter, Missouri 63841

Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie is assisting with arrangements.

In Memory of Brenda Lee Pruitt

Brenda Lee Pruitt, daughter of the late Robert Dean Fotsch and Effie Jane Metropolis, was born on December 19, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois, and departed this life on October 9, 2021, at St. Clare Hospital in Fenton, Missouri, at the age of 69 years.

Mrs. Pruitt was a cosmetologist, co-owner of Mike’s Body Shop in Bloomfield, and she was a former legal secretary for the Stoddard County Prosecuting Attorney’s office. Brenda had attended Bernie and Bloomfield Churches of Christ. She was a member of the Bloomfield Women’s Club, Bloomfield Lions Club, and Sassy Stitchers, and she was a resident of Bloomfield.

On February 7, 1970, in Libertyville, Illinois, she was united in marriage to Michael Wayne Pruitt. Mr. Pruitt preceded her in death on January 4, 2020.

She is survived by two daughters, Alysia Pruitt-Gregg and husband Bradley of Columbia, Tennessee, and Melinda Pruitt of Bloomfield, Missouri; by two brothers, Paul Fotsch and wife Laurie of Washington, Illinois, and Dan Fotsch and wife Anita of Zionsville, Indiana; by her sister, Janet Gilbert and husband Richard of Cantonment, Florida; by her sister-in-law, Anita Duba of Bloomfield, Missouri; by four grandchildren, Esther Gregg, Alexis Gregg, Nicodemus Gregg, and Effigenia Gregg; and by eleven nieces and nephews, Joshua Fotsch, Krystal Crecelius, Bradley Fotsch, Erica Fotsch, Kevin Fotsch, Christy Sindle, Melody Patrick, Kassia Raines, Holly Gilbert, Dillon Rickman, and Hailey Keeney.

Other than by her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Dean Fotsch.

Mary June (Becraft) Beyer, age 85 of Bloomfield, MO, passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2021, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born on June 6, 1936, in Dexter, MO, daughter of Ralph and Juanita (Parker) Becraft. She and Clarence Wayne Beyer were united in marriage in 1952 and he survives in Dexter, MO.

Mary worked as a beautician for her sister Pat for several years early on. Then she went on to work many years as a cafeteria worker for a Church school in Saint Louis, MO. Mary was a member of Faith Life Church in Sikeston, MO.

Survivors include her husband, Wayne; two sons, Terry Beyer of Wentzville, MO, and David (Trish) Beyer of O’Fallon, MO; one daughter Crystal (Mikie) Frisella of Sarasota, FL; two brothers Barney (June) Becraft, and Larry (Sandy) Becraft both of Lake Carlisle, IL; three sisters, Martha (Watt) Espey of Lake Carlisle, IL, Shelia (Larry) Sandage, and Marilyn (Andy) Gilliam both of Dexter, MO; Nine Grandchildren , ten great-grandchildren and another great on the way.

She is preceded in death by her parent; one Son, Dale Beyer in 2018; two sister Glora Jean and Pat; four brothers, Donnie and Rodney Becraft, and two infant brothers; and one daughter-in-law Gail Beyer in 2014.

A private Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held at a later date.

Arrangements were under the care of Liley Funeral Homes.

In Memory of Deborah Jean Cossey

Deborah Jean Cossey, daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson McGowen and Pansy Eloise McGowen, was born on November 9, 1951 in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and departed this life on October 8, 2021 at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 69.

Mrs. Cossey was the owner and operator of a local cleaning service. Deborah liked reading her Bible. Her husband, Gary, found her prayer journal where she had documented her many prayers for family and friends. She dearly loved her grandchildren. She and Gary enjoyed playing pranks on one another and were always sharing with the kids what they were planning next.

On October 18, 2013, in Branson, Missouri she was united in marriage to Gary Wayne Cossey. Mr. Cossey survives of their home in Dexter.

In addition to her husband Gary, she is survived by sons, Jeffrey Wright of Dexter; Christopher Jackson and wife Ashley of Dexter; Brad Richard and wife Lori of Peoria, Illinois; daughters, Melinda Jones and husband Michael of Springfield; Rhonda Seabaugh and husband Matt of Symsonia, Kentucky; Jeri Pritchett and husband David of Park Hills, Missouri; brother, Clifford McGowen of Dexter; sisters, Sue Williams of St. Charles, Illinois ; Robin Rayle of St. Charles, Illinois, and Becky Beach of Veneta, Oregon; twelve grandchildren; Ethan, Noah, Mya, Morgan, River, Jordan, Nicole, Hannah, Samuel, Phoenix, Nastasia, and Christian; and by eleven great - grandchildren.

Besides her parents, Debbie was preceded in death by her oldest son, Junior Wright.

Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.

The Cossey family request that everyone please wear a mask.

In Memory of Tammy Jean Vaughn

Tammy Jean Vaughn of Dexter, Missouri born to the late Richard and Barbara (Palmer) Gaines on February 28, 1962 passed away on October 03, 2021 in Dexter, Missouri at the age of 59 years. 

Tammy had been a resident of Dexter, Missouri her whole life.  She was of the Baptist faith.        

She is survived by one daughter Angela Gardner of Dexter, Missouri.  A host of family and friends also survive.  

There are no arrangements at this time.
