Ronald Evans Acord, son of the late Paul Denny Acord and Betty Louise (Broaddus) Acord, was born on June 22, 1946, in Kansas City, Missouri, and departed this life on July 19, 2021, at his residence in Advance, Missouri, at the age of 75 years.
Mr. Acord graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1964 and went on to play football for Northwest Missouri State University. He was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving as a Captain in Vietnam from 1968 to 1972. After spending nearly a decade in logistics and manufacturing for large national companies, he launched his own industrial adhesives business and later retired from the corrugated manufacturing industry. He was a prominent member of the community in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, until moving to southern Missouri in 1994. He attended the First United Methodist Church in Dexter, Missouri, and he was one of the founders of the Marine Corps League in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He was also a member of the American Legion and VFW in Dexter.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Drenna Lee-Acord; by his daughter, Heather Acord of Washington, DC; by two step-daughters, Jennifer McMillion of Dexter, Missouri, and Heather Livermore (Dr. George Livermore) of Newnan, Georgia; by two sisters, Linda Ross of McAllen, Texas, and Pat Marsh of Kansas City, Missouri; by five step-grandchildren, Reilly McMillion, Maggie McMillion, Sydnie McMillion, Landree Livermore, and Ava Livermore; and by several nieces and nephews.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Steve Acord and by his sister, Janet Acord.
A memorial service will be held at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri, on Monday, August 16, 2021, at 10:00 a.m.
