![A Year Gone By - In Loving Memory of Mathew Greer](/img_vfbu_910_800.png)
It was one year ago my beloved husband Mathew Greer saw the face of God. In some ways it feels like yesterday at the same time so long ago.
Matt and I met as teenagers in the eighth grade at Dexter Middle School, in Dexter Missouri. We were on opposite teams for a wiffle ball game. I’ll never forget rounding 3rd base, heading for home, when I landed in the arms of a tall, handsome catcher. It was love at first sight! We instantly became best friends, and over the years, soulmates. I am so honored and blessed to have had Matt by my side for the past 44 years. Our life together was a beautiful partnership and magical. We had three beautiful children and he enjoyed everything about being a father. We also had two beautiful additions, a son-in-law and daughter-in-law to our family which Matt embraced with love.
Matt was a special gift from God, a light in our lives and the rock of our family. He was a devoted loving husband, proud father, son, brother, son-in-law, brother-in law, uncle, friend, coach, community leader, mentor, and servant of God. He was a true family man and the spiritual leader of our family.
We have all been blessed to have had him in our lives. I miss the little things about Matt. For instance, when the kids were young, he would leave inspirational quotes on their bedroom doors each morning. As they grew older, he would send us a passage of scripture and his thoughts for the day! He was a special gift. We miss him and love him so much. Our faith in God has guided us through these difficult times.
We want to thank our family and friends for the love, prayers, and support during the past year. We will honor Matt with a “Celebration of His Life” ceremony in the near future. ~Lisa, Gabrielle,Matthew, Marcus, Michael and Megan
